Yesterday I attended the 🎉 HR COMMUNITY BASH 🎉 hosted by the The Secret HR Society at the HRpepper offices ... and what a blast! We had an amazing panel discussion moderated by Hilary Klassen with participations from Kara Preedy, Tatyana Eliseeva, CFA, Leo Harrison MBA, Kerstin Prothmann and Sandra Preußner. Here are some of the take aways: ✅ Qs: What can we transform in the world of HR? - Always challenge your employment lawyer (loved this!). Ask TWO questions: what is the risk and what are the probabilities. - Scale responsibility. Tap into the contract / freelance community to give your organization the flexibility to grow and downsize as needed. There are a LOT of super qualified individuals looking for flexible work arrangements. - For leaders: is does required a rather different sets of skills to manage freelancers, but nothing that can't be learned! - Make sure your employees are aware of your physical and mental health benefits. Measure the impact and the ROI of investing in health programs. Not sure how? Check out HealthCaters.ai for additional support. ✅ Qs: If you had a magic wand, what super power would you give HR? - Use data to bring your cases to the C-Suite. You have more data that you think you have, use it wisely, speak the "business language". Even when budgets are been cut by 50%, you can still make a difference. Investing in the right programs can yield direct business savings / revenue. - Did you know that circa 37% of leaders actually participate in company health programs? Encourage your leaders to take care of themselves, and become advocates for physical and mental health. - Move your desk close to the business! - Add a 0 or two to your employee branding budget. If you are spending tons of money on advertising your products or services, why wouldn't you do the same to attract the right talent? - A lot of companies are hiring a lot... and also downsizing a lot.
