Why Trade Shows are not only good for #business #sales #revenue: A People and Culture Person´s Perspective
As a people and culture´s person at Q.ANT, working with Dr. Michael Förtsch a deep tech startup in #photonics & #quantum, I recently attended https://lnkd.in/ePB7Yryz in #stuttgart.
I enjoyed it so much that I would like to share today why trade shows can be an incredible learning opportunity for everyone.
**Enhancing Product Knowledge**
Trade shows are filled with real-time product demonstrations and pitches. By exposing employees outside of sales and product teams to this environment, they gain a deeper understanding of company’s offerings. This knowledge equips them to make more informed contributions and align better with business goals.
**Learning the Art of the Pitch**
Watching seasoned sales teams deliver product pitches teaches valuable storytelling and communication skills. Even for those in non-sales roles, learning to articulate the company’s value and addressing customer pain points is essential for internal and external communication.
At #QuantumEffects I especially liked the "Start-up Investment Pitches" format where people would pitch their start-ups in front of investors. What a great opportunity to listen, learn, and find out what really resonates! I do not know any training that provides such benefits.
**Encouraging Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Networking**
When employees from various business units attend a trade show, it fosters knowledge sharing and collaboration. Upon returning, these diverse insights help align teams on strategic initiatives, enhancing internal cohesion.
For Q.ANT #nativeComputing and #nativeSensing business units represented their products and technology. What a unique opportunity to get in touch and learn more about the others.
**Boosting Morale and Engagement**
Attending trade shows signals to employees that the company values their professional development, even more: We trust that they speak for Q.ANT!
We bring our Q.ANTies into the situation to tell our story which makes it their story.
"Wie geil ist das denn!" (Sorry, not sure if this can be translated:-))
What else?
Trade shows aren’t just for sales—they offer rich learning experiences for all employees. Although at any time associated with investments, do not underestimate their power. Do not only evaluate in terms of #leads and #opportunities.
Especially in a #startup we need to learn and grow fast. However, the same time we have limited resources and capacity for training and development. So be creative and think about opportunities BEYOND a traditional learning and development approach. However, make this explicit to your leaders and people to value and recognize the invest at all levels.
Or how do you see this?
