Help request: Do you have ideas on how to keep a 400+ participants hybrid event like a family reunion? As we are in the finish line for the organization of the Swiss Service Design Conference made by the Swiss Service Design Network I'm looking for ideas on how to keep the event: - Personal - Like a family reunion - With moments where people really bond (not network, bond!) How would you overcome this challenge?

The subject of Universal Design is far too big for just 1 person to have all the answers. Take advantage of these great webinar and soak up as much info as you can!! We all have unique perspectives based on our different life experiences and we are also all continuously learning and refining our knowledge base. What an honor it was to connect with Shifra Mendelovitz at the ReDeal Conference she shared some fascinating insights into her unique approach to design. With years of experience across residential, commercial and industrial projects, she understands that truly successful design is about more than just creating beautiful spaces - it's about deeply understanding the client's vision and designing for the end user. ⤷ As Shifra explained, too often designers fall into the trap of simply creating what they personally like, rather than focusing on the needs and goals of the client. But the reality is, the most successful projects are those that sell or rent immediately, hitting those key business objectives. → That's why Shifra's approach centers around diving deep into the client's world. She asks critical questions like... - What are they trying to achieve? - Who is the target audience for the space? - How can we craft an environment that will resonate with them on a meaningful level? Shifra her love of finding underutilized spaces and transforming them into stunning, functional amenities perfectly tailored to the end user. For her, it's not about imposing her own preferences, but about truly understanding the client's "why" and bringing that vision to life. By prioritizing authenticity, emotional connection, and a deep understanding of the client's needs, Shifra and the Act 2 Interiors team have been able to drive powerful results - from immediate rentals to record breaking sales. It was such a pleasure learning from Shifra at Re Deal. We do need to give a huge shout out to Joel, Mac, Yehuda and Joe for putting on an absolutely phenomenal event! The quality of the speakers, the networking opportunities, and the overall experience were top notch. Can't wait for the next one!

THIS IS WHERE DREAMS GO TO DIE: Selecting the Perfect Venue for Your Next Strategy Workshop Hotel conference rooms, with no natural light, fake smells, funky drip coffee, extravagant feature lighting, lush thick carpets, and heavy curtains, are where dreams go to die. They are NOT the ideal location for your next future-thinking workshop or meeting. Here are my top 3 tips for selecting a venue for your next workshop: 1) OFFSITE IS KEY: Studies show that changing the environment can significantly impact cognitive processes. It also signals importance. Consider the collective value of the time of everyone in the room and weigh that against the additional cost of taking it offsite. It's a small investment with massive impact. 2) NATURAL LIGHT AND VIEWS: Natural light is a must, a view of nature is better, and a view of a horizon is best. Exposure to natural environments and expansive horizons enhances creativity and inspires expansive thinking. 3) ROOM SIZE: The capacity should be at least 1.5 times the number of participants. People need space to move around, stand, and group for effective collaboration. There are sure to be lots of options in your area, so do some research. If you're in Perth, ask me for recommendations! The event I worked on a couple of weeks ago wasn't just about a book launch. It was an event with purpose. To encourage the built environment to make waves to become more inclusive (this is what the book is all about). But it was important to Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP that the event represented inclusivity where possible, with sustainability as an additional driving factor. When she first came up with the idea for the event, she committed to writing an ethical and sustainability audit report afterwards (which you can see below). As you can see, being sustainable and ethical isn't always the cheapest option and it's particularly hard to expect one individual to not only bang the drum for this, but to fit the bill herself. Events are inherently unsustainable (both environmentally and financially), but this really shouldn't be the case. A lot of event organisers are now trying to be more sustainable and inclusive, but it comes at a cost. We see a lot of festivals shutting down because the cost is too prohibitive, and that's without throwing sustainability into the mix. There needs to be more support from the larger corporate companies, not only within their own organisations, but for events within their industries (through sponsorship for example) so we can continue to put on events such as the Building Inclusion - The Book launch event which ultimately promotes a better world for everyone. #sustainability #sustainableevents #inclusion #buildinginclusion #events #weworkevents
