[RESOURCE] The Church in Boston has a responsibility to wrestle with the painful legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. This resource list provides a wealth of material to grow in awareness of how the legacy of slavery continues to impact our communities. Did you know? • Slavery was legal in Massachusetts for over 140 years • Enslaved Black people made up about 10% of Boston's population by the mid-18th century • Boston was a significant port in the North Atlantic Slave Trade, connected to at least 307 separate trafficking voyages Our resource list includes: • Theological foundations for remembering the past • Historic sites to visit in Greater Boston • Local organizations addressing the legacy of slavery • Educational resources on the history of slavery in Boston As Christians, we're called to remember, lament, and work towards healing. This resource list is a step towards understanding our past to build shalom in the present. Explore the resources and join the conversation. How is your faith community engaging with this history? Please share your thoughts and experiences in the comments. #Boston #Church #TransatlanticSlaveTrade #SocialJustice #HistoricalAwareness

What distinguishes a Catholic mission school from other schools — each of which aims to nurture students into good people and develop them holistically? Here's the heart of it: Catholic educators, whether in Catholic or non-Catholic schools, are entrusted with a sacred duty — to cultivate saints, individuals deeply connected to their faith and guided by values of compassion, integrity, and service. Lord, we pray for Catholic schools to be like fertile soil, where the seeds of faith are sown deeply in our children's hearts. May they be nurtured and shaped into reflections of Your love and grace, preparing them to shine brightly as beacons of hope and compassion in the world. Amen. Choose from 21 Catholic primary schools where your children are encouraged to dream and nurture their sense of curiosity. Find out more at https://buff.ly/3yWdTcx

Very often, in a good number of parishes I hear the term 'Volunteer' (That is born of the will, and not by force or necessity foreign to it). And this term is wrong! When the person is formed and deepens his relationship with the Church, and 'feels' with the Church, the person soon realizes that the term 'Volunteer' is wrongly applied. What then is the appropriate term? That term should be 'Disciple' not 'voluntereer' since every baptized person participates in the mission of the Church "we become members of Christ and are incorporated into the Church and made participants in its mission" (CCC, no. 1213). Therefore, if your parish needs volunteers, you will get volunteers with short term commitment, but if your parish awakens the rights and responsibilities of what a disciple of Christ should be, you will see "missionary disciples" in action responding to a sacred call. People at parishes are not there to fill a need, they are there because they are responding to a sacred call in virtue of their baptism. Key component will be a process of discernment and accompaniment and that will be up to leaders to determine.

The Institute for Faith & Culture and Lifeway Research's new study shows that 92% of U.S. Evangelicals say they have a responsibility to share Biblical truths, but only 35% say they are ready to. We can help! Our ministry's "Can I Ask You A Question?" evangelism training for churches teaches a Gospel-centered, respectful, easy-to-remember, normal way to start conversations & solves 3 big fears: I don't know what to say, I'm afraid to offend & I can't answer objections. Message me if I can serve your church or conference. https://lnkd.in/gEWar9Nh

It is very nice that you are explaining why the secret society organization should not be highlighted in God’s house of worship. Many people are not aware of scriptures that state not to be involved with unbelieving secret society organizations. Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. 2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Here in Oxford, North Carolina, a small rural country town, there is a large population of a variety of secret society organizations. I discovered a secret society political organization called the Christian Illuminati. This secret society occult is nationwide with headquarters in many of the Black churches. Very few people here in Oxford, North Carolina, are followers of Jesus Christ. The Christian Illuminati is a Cluster B Religious stalking occult group that was created back in 1964-1965 during the creation of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. It hurts knowing that people are out here tricking, scamming, and flip-flamming God’s people for wealth, fame, riches, and money. It is sad that we, God’s people, are being victimized and abused by people who are pretending to be followers of Jesus Christ. But in secret they are killing, stealing and destroying God's people on behalf of their father the Devil for benefits, offerings, and tithes. The charlatan deceivers are in desperate need of intense counseling. Symptoms of Cluster B disorders should no longer be ignored. They must repent and turn from the cruelty, evil and wickedness they represent. Your education about this subject is desperately needed. Bless you all for your teachings. #church #deception

As a pastor myself, I have already been thinking about plans for 2025. I have heard from many churches and church leaders the need and desire for a greater focus on discipleship. If you are wanting to be more intentional about discipleship in your setting in 2025, then "Crossing the Discipleship Chasm" may be a key resource to do that very thing. https://shorturl.at/FDzh6

🛑 Myth: Small Churches Should Do It All to Grow Recently, I spoke with a pastor from a smaller church that has an average attendance of 22 but is trying to plan multiple events—Fall Festival, Thanksgiving banquet, live nativity—just to name a few. Their congregation, which used to average over 200 in worship, has steadily declined, and now they’re tired and discouraged. The myth that small churches should do everything is harmful. If they continue spreading themselves thin, they’ll end up with mediocrity—and here’s the truth: no one is impressed by mediocrity, no matter how good-hearted the effort. Instead, I recommend focusing on one or two things exceptionally well. When a small church focuses on excellence, it connects with the community in a way that matters. And as a bonus, members won’t feel so worn out, allowing them to engage deeper in their spiritual lives. #effectivechurch #churchgrowth #pastors #church #churchleadership #excellenceinministry
