Hey folks, This week, I dived deeper into Kubernetes with a focus on Logging and Monitoring, Control Plane and Worker Node troubleshooting, and explored the power of JSON and JSONPath in Kubernetes. 🎉 Recently, I completed Days 36 to 40 of my #40DaysOfKubernetes challenge! Here's a quick breakdown of my learnings: Day 36: 🔹 Learned the importance of logging to capture logs from apps, nodes, and clusters—crucial for troubleshooting and performance analysis. 🔹 Monitoring resource usage (CPU, memory, network) to optimize operations. 🔹 Explored the Metric Server and its role in autoscaling. Day 37: 🔹 Completed a troubleshooting task focused on services, deployments, network policies, and more! 📎 Task Link: https://lnkd.in/g4Gq-UGx Days 38 & 39: 🔹 Mastered techniques for troubleshooting Kubernetes Control Plane and Worker Nodes. Day 40: 🔹 Got hands-on with JSON and JSONPath in Kubernetes and advanced kubectl commands related to JSONPath queries. 🌟 Although my #40DaysOfKubernetes challenge has ended, my learning journey doesn't stop here! Here's a brief overview of the steps I took when i provisioned EKS cluster and deployed game "2048" using eksctl: Overall it consists of 6 steps. - Created an EKS cluster with 2 worker nodes using eksctl - Updated kubectl configuration to point to the new cluster - Applied deployment configuration, namespace, service, and ingress resources - Associated IAM OIDC provider with the cluster - Created an IAM policy and attached it to a service account - Installed AWS Load Balancer Controller using Helm The result? A fully functional AWS EKS cluster with the game "2048" deployed and accessible via a public URL! One week #laVieEnCloudNative at #KubeCon in Paris and basically everyone was all about AI 🤖 However, there were also so many hidden champions deserving of our attention! 🏆 Data Pipelines on WebAssembly With the recent release of WASI 0.2.0 WASM components are able to exchange data in nanoseconds which is a great foundation for building flexible and resource efficient data pipelines for highly specialized and resource constrained environments. 🏆 Immutable Operating Systems 10 years after its inception Kubernetes has become the engine behind essentially all Big Data and AI applications but it’s still kinda hard to operate. Being deployed on top of an operating system and (sometimes) VMs it adds a layer of complexity that must be managed by system- and platform operators. Linux distros like „gardenlinux“, „kairos“ or „Talos“ are immutable, which reduces attack vectors, offer capabilities that make day-2 operations (like patch management) easier and thus form a solid foundation for Kubernetes to run upon. 🏆 Kubernetes Management Even though K8s is pretty cool, no one really uses it just for the sake of it! The applications running on top of kubernetes add value to peolples life’s. So everything that makes kubernetes management a chore of the past is pretty amazing and helps us to focus on building great applications! Huge shoutout to folks at #spectrocloud and everyone who is working on making Kubernetes operations simple and secure!
