It’s our Vet’s birthday!! 🥳
All year round, this wonderful person saves lives, repairs broken limbs, heals hearts, and can casually pull out sharp bones stuck in tiny throats, while petting 6 dogs at once! We’re so grateful to be blessed to have a wonderful doctor who is genuinely empathetic toward dogs, is gentle and kind and never too exhausted to help or advise or just smile & share a joke. Medical wiz aside, the comfort he provides speaks volumes about his soft heart and core skills. We are forever grateful! 🫂🧡 Don’t know how he does it. 😌
Please join us in wishing talented, tireless, totally cool, Doctor Shaheem the best day and year ahead! 🧁

What are you grateful for in medicine?
If your initial thought about practicing medicine is not of gratitude but of what you are not happy about, you are not alone. Don’t beat yourself up.
It takes practice to be grateful especially in challenging times. Being grateful does not mean that you are ignoring the unpleasant things; it means that you are acknowledging them and looking at things from a different perspective. You are focusing on what you can appreciate in a situation.
When you are grateful, you feel lighter. It is easier for you to focus on what you do, and less likely to be distracted. In other words, you will be more efficient.
Even if you are drowning in the piles of unfinished charts you have accumulated over the days and months, there is still something to be grateful for.
You just have to be curious and open-minded to look for them.
Are you grateful for having a profession that compensates you financially?
Are you grateful for the lives of patients you changed?
Are you grateful for the special connections you make with your patients?
The more you seek for something, the more you find that thing. The more you look for something to be grateful for, the more you find them.
Even though it may be challenging to be grateful in practicing medicine, acknowledging where you are and appreciating what you have allows you to feel better, to have a higher capacity to handle tough situations, to have more empathy, to make better connections and to be more efficient.
I invite you to read more about this in my blog post. Link in comments.

I am often questioned about the need for vitiligo treatment. People consider this as ‘merely a cosmetic issue’. Is it though?
Vitiligo patients struggle to come out of the fear of unpredictability associated with the spread of the patches- the fear of not knowing when or where a new patch will appear, the fear of people’s perception to their changing appearance. This fear of change is psychologically devastating for several of them- making them feel isolated and dejected.
We, at Ahammune, have seen patients living with vitiligo, and understand that what might seem ‘merely cosmetic’ to the common eye, is life altering for most. These white patches are a manifestation of autoimmune destruction of melanocytes, the pattern of which is tough to predict. Our scientists are developing a holistic approach for the treatment of this autoimmunity, to stop the spread and stimulate re-pigmentation. We endeavor to provide these patients with an option to get treated- a choice that was not available to them thus far.
While for most patients the white patches are an emotional burden, some brave warriors have embraced the change, and are now spreading awareness amongst others. This World Vitiligo Day, meet one such warrior, Nupur Kale, a homemaker, a social worker and a changemaker, who is spreading the message of “Embrace your vitiligo”. Don’t let vitiligo define you.
