Food is an integral part of wellbeing. It's also one of the gateway into local culture, eye to the soul of a nation and such good conversation starter. Being a born and bred Malaysian 🇲🇾, breathing almost 2/3 of my existence here, there is so much I know yet alot full I am not aware of in this cultural melting pot of Southeast Asia. We are multilinguil and 101 dialect speaking nation with cross marriages dating many generations. We have been colonised by the British 🇬🇧, Portuguese 🇵🇹 and Dutch 🇱🇺 including the Japanese 🇯🇵 during WW2. We share close proximity with Thailand 🇹🇭 to the north, Singapore 🇸🇬 at southern tip, border Brunei 🇧🇳, and Indonesia 🇮🇩 at Borneo with the excitement of upcoming Nusantara at Kalimantan. South China Sea is where we savour exotic seafoods with the Philippines 🇵🇭 and Vietnam 🇻🇳. In my chosen profession, I have been fortunate experiencing different cultures on vacation, visiting or hosting colleagues. It never fail to intrigue me each time yet I realised there is so much more I need to learn about my country Malaysia. A recent return to East Malaysia, Borneo is a stark reminder cultural curiosity doesn't necessarily lead to cultural awareness. While I am the former, the latter will likely enhance one's experience. My journey of bridging not knowing to awareness is unlearning to re-learn. Immersing adventure 2025 with much excitement! #PreppedforTomorrow #TransformativeAgility #GOTFL

The ability to step away from a situation or place, allowing for a deeper and clearer analysis, is like observing a landscape from the top of a mountain: from afar, the view is broader, while up close, perception is limited. Similarly, experiencing different cultures, realities, and ways of thinking broadens the understanding not only of others but of ourselves. It’s a constant exercise in self-knowledge, where each new place visited offers a different mirror to reflect on our own history, beliefs, and values. Traveling allows not only the necessary distance to better see one’s own journey but also a form of expansion, carrying pieces of the world within and, at the same time, spreading our own seeds wherever we go. This constant exchange between "being from a place" and "being in another" makes us realize that borders aren’t as rigid as they seem—the true journey is the inner one. It’s a process of transformation in which, with each new culture and reality encountered, something within us also changes and grows, without ever losing what we essentially are. Terima kasih, Malaysia! (Thank you, 🇲🇾)

𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒂 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 & 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 This Malaysia Day, we reflect not only on the unity of our nation but also on the need for equity across all regions. Having lived and studied in Sarawak for five years, I’ve seen the deep connections between East and West Malaysia, as well as the unique challenges faced by the people of Sabah and Sarawak—from infrastructural inequality to higher costs of air travel and imported goods (and many many more....without going political in this post) While systemic change takes time, small efforts can make a big difference. Though it can be just baby steps, but I’ve committed to providing services in Sabah & Sarawak without imposing additional costs, ensuring locals receive the same value without extra burden. As we look ahead, I urge businesses and entrepreneurs across Malaysia to follow suit if you haven't already done so. Let’s work together to provide fair, accessible services to all Malaysians, regardless of region. By maintaining fair value and eliminating unnecessary costs, we can bridge the gap and foster a more equitable Malaysia. Happy Malaysia Day! #linkedin #malaysia #equality #unity
