Knowing your risk factors can be a game changer in preventing multiple myeloma, a cancer that starts in plasma cells (a type of white blood cell) and can accumulate in the bone marrow. Key factors to look out for: • Age: The older we get, particularly past 65, the higher the risk. • Gender: Men are slightly more prone to develop it. • Family: A family member with myeloma raises your risk. • Radiation: If you’ve had radiation therapy before, it can increase your risk. Awareness of these key factors can help you take the right steps early. DHR Health Oncology Institute is by your side, offering guidance and support every step of the way. Robert Goldman MD, DO, PhD Worldhealth.net A new study shows that older prostate cancer patients in the U.S. are increasingly over-treated. Many undergo aggressive treatments with significant side effects that reduce quality of life without extending lifespan, despite not having the life expectancy to benefit from such treatments. #antiaging #aging #men #menshealth #prostatecancer #cancertreatment #regenerativemedicine #medicine #clinicalresearch https://lnkd.in/gxW-J-72

🧠 Could Vortioxetine Be the Key to Beating Glioblastoma? Glioblastoma (GBM) is one of the most aggressive and deadly brain tumors, with limited effective treatment options. But there’s new hope through drug repurposing—leveraging existing medications to combat GBM in innovative ways. One standout candidate? Vortioxetine, a multimodal antidepressant. Key Highlights: • Vortioxetine vs. GBM: This antidepressant is showing potent anti-tumor effects against GBM—inducing cell death, halting tumor growth, and enhancing chemotherapy effectiveness, particularly with temozolomide. How It Works: Targets Serotonin Receptors: Modulates key serotonin pathways that intersect with glioblastoma growth. Induces Apoptosis: Promotes programmed cell death in GBM cells. Enhances Standard Treatments: Increases the sensitivity of GBM cells to radiation and chemotherapy, offering a synergistic boost to traditional treatments. More Than a Mood Booster: Vortioxetine could offer a dual benefit for GBM patients who may also experience mood disorders, supporting mental health while fighting cancer. Why Drug Repurposing Matters: Repurposing can fast-track access to promising treatments, offering new hope to patients facing tough-to-treat cancers like GBM. ➡️ Curious about the future of cancer care?
