Started the Second Day of Internship Experience UK 2024 the biggest internship programme in the UK! We kicked off with a powerful keynote from Laura Tye , Legal Director at Clyde & Co , who shared her remarkable journey to her current role. Laura highlighted how the unpredictable nature of career paths shape professional growth. Her journey from Dubai to London underscored the importance of resilience and seizing opportunities: "There's no such thing as being overprepared in your career, especially in the beginning." I just spoke with the lady at the "Swedish public employment service", called #Arbetsförmedlingen. I wanted to find out if someone (with an academic education in tourism in #Sweden) can officially find a #job. First, she told me that it is not their job to help us find a job and that we should do that ourselves. There is no help regarding internships or anything similar. 👀 Second, she pointed out that there is no need for an academic degree in tourism. She also added that the forecast doesn't look good either and there are no jobs in the tourism field. People get #hired in #tourism daily in #Sweden. The tricky part is how they get employed. So I have two questions. What is the purpose of having an agency such as Arbetsförmedlingen, if they are not there to help people get a job? Why does academic education in tourism exist at all, if there are no jobs and the forecast doesn't look good?
