We carry out a preliminary study to identify the length of the last mile to be covered from our existing network. We then go on site to verify the information gathered and identify the best solution. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐞𝐝? Once the possibilities have been identified, we need to contact “Ponts et Chaussées” and the communes concerned to request authorization to build our infrastructure and make a costed proposal to the customer based on our analyzes. Every fiber path built enables us to extend the network and offer connection possibilities to an ever-growing number of players. On this site, we identified other potential sites that could be interested in being connected via LuxConnect fiber network or via the Fiber POP. #DarkFiber #Connection #Network

Research article showing the value households place on Fiber to the Home in France in response to the expansion under their Très Haut-Débit plan. This uses spatial discontinuity and the end conclusion is there's an average increase of .9% in property value. There's a quite a few interesting charts. One shows while average values are higher in dense areas, locations with fiber in sparsely populated areas are much noticeably higher, likely because it is "a rare and valuable asset". https://lnkd.in/erZampcb

Leveraging programs like BEAD to push fiber further to connect all Americans is critical. But, ensuring that operators do not face network bottlenecks due to the exponential increase in data traffic is equally important. Our panel will discuss why just focusing on access could lead to easily avoidable headaches. By putting equal attention on the "Middle Mile," we can provide the network balance needed to avoid such issues. #BEAD #fiber #network #MiddleMile #connectivity

Bringing #broadband to underserved areas: A solution hiding in plain sight? Water towers offer an opportunity to expand internet access. By installing fixed-wireless antennas on these existing structures, we can: - Leverage elevated positions for improved signal coverage - Reduce infrastructure costs - Minimize environmental impact - Accelerate deployment timelines This approach helps rural and remote communities bridge the digital divide efficiently. As we seek innovative ways to connect the unconnected, let's not overlook the potential of our water infrastructure to double as broadband beacons. Last month, our broadband consultant Mark Van Loan attended the Extremely High-Cost Locations Technical Workshop, hosted by the Vermont Community Broadband Board (VCBB). This workshop explored alternative technologies for BEAD deployment funding for locations exceeding the Extremely High-Cost Threshold (ECHT). Here are some of Mark’s main takeaways and key points discussed at the workshop: • 𝗙𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲: Deploying fiber in these areas is significantly more expensive than in other regions. • 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: States can explore using technologies like fixed wireless, G.hn Copper Solutions, and Low Earth Orbit Satellite (LEO) such as Starlink as a more cost-effective option. • 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱: Each state sets its own EHCT based on factors like terrain, population density, and existing infrastructure. • 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁: The goal is to maximize fiber deployment while ensuring broadband access in all areas, including those with extremely high costs. Share with us in comments what your thoughts are on the above-mentioned challenges and how you think technology may best be utilized to overcome them. Stay tuned for more insights and updates from our team, and don’t forget to follow us for the latest broadband news and events! #BroadbandConsulting #MissionBroadband #TechWorkshop #BroadbandTechnology #BEADProgram #DigitalEquity #Vermont #Broadband

Middle-mile may have become more important than ever in terms of fiber networks because all the last-mile networks that will be built for BEAD need to connect to something. But honing-in on a precise definition of middle-mile is a challenge even for industry insiders. At the Fiber Connect show, a panel of middle-mile professionals had a spirited discussion. But when the moderator, Rick Talbot from ACG Research, tried to pin panelists down on the definition of middle-mile, he had little success. Joe Pellegrini, president and COO with Great Plains Communications, said, “It’s an end-to-end system with real estate, points of presence…. There’s the power requirements, generators.” https://lnkd.in/d_4-HD-a #ftth #fibertothehome #fiberopticnetwork #fiberopticnewtorks #fiberopticcable #telecom #telecommunications #ftthinstallation #fiberoptic #fiberopticsplicing #network #broadband
