Where do acknowledgements go in a book? Let’s dive in! Books have three main parts: front matter, body, and back matter. The front matter includes the title page, table of contents, and intro, while the back matter wraps up with the epilogue, bibliography, and appendices. Now, here’s the fun part: acknowledgements can go in either the front or back! Traditionally, you’ll find them in the front—before or after the table of contents. But if you’re self-publishing, you can decide where to place them. Front or back, it’s totally up to you! So, how long should they be? Well, that depends. Cassandra Clare kept it short and sweet in *Heavenly Fire* with a single paragraph, while Sheryl Sandberg went all out with seven-and-a-half pages of thank-yous in *Lean In*! But here’s the trick—keep it engaging! You don’t want readers skimming or rolling their eyes at a long laundry list of names. Aim for heartfelt and concise, and try to keep it under three pages.
