This just in from https://lnkd.in/gc9nVHM3: “The Webby Awards took place last night. We’d already covered the podcast winners; the ceremony’s famous five-word speeches included one from Lemonada Media’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus, winning podcast of the year for Wiser Than Me: “Listen to old women, motherfudgers”. (Some words may have been changed to ensure delivery of this email.) You can watch highlights at The Webby Awards website.” You tell ‘em, Elaine baby. New Episode, just uploaded -- "MamaCat’s Never-Ending Festival of Spring Cleaning!" Absolutely, positively, not about household cleaning tips. That's some other podcast. I may be in the Metaphor business. Clean Out Your Mailbox! Clean out your Mind? Clean out your Closets... I promised you last time that we’d talk about junk mail, and we do. And as this evening marks the end of National Mental Health Week in the U.S. (where we could use some), we talk about that too. Also, physical junk gets cleaned out too. Includes research, opinion, and as always, there’s Time Travel. Today’s Soup contains: Heavy duty personal stuff sandwiched between slices of hot fresh snark and sarcasm. Tender moments of inner vulnerability mixed with humor and reflection. Consumer reports sprinkled with obscure 60s & 70s pop culture references. I promise, this podcast doesn’t sound like the other Grannies’ podcasts, because I’m not like the other grannies. But I hang out with them. And they want you to do like Julia says, and “Listen to old women.” Motherfudgers. #GrannyHasAPodcast #MultitrackAudioProduction #VoiceActor #JunkMail #MarriedLife #VOAtlanta #Women50Plus #MentalHealth #Neurodiverse #ActorsLife #ProgrammingAndProduction #Radio #FMandAM #AdobeAudition #Storyteller #Comedy #Pathos #DickVanDyke #MaryTylerMoore #AreYouStillReadingTheseHashtags https://lnkd.in/g_riHZ3y

I am not OK! and that’s ok. I was listening to my husband's podcast episode with Kim at Pause First Academy. They discussed the perception we often create, imagining other people's lives as better or perfect. I've heard this sentiment several times, and I always find myself nodding in agreement. Usually, I share the positive aspects of my life on Facebook and LinkedIn. When things aren't going well, I tend to withdraw and stop interacting or sharing. Thus, you only see 🌞 and 🌈. The reality is that it's human nature to share the joyful aspects of life, and for most people, it's easier. Discussing the struggles of not finding success, being in the wrong job, or dealing with a difficult boss is challenging to share on social media for a few reasons. Your employer might also be on LinkedIn, and admitting a lack of success can feel like a double loss, and you don’t want to admit that you chose the wrong job or that you’re not happy. AND Sharing failures is so incredibly helpful to others to learn from, to hear that they are not alone, to avoid mistakes or to learn something to help improve outcomes. I commit to sharing more failures and hard feelings to give back to this amazing community. Because I’m not always ok, and that’s ok and normal. I'm also sharing a very personal journey that my husband shared with Kim Colegrove on her podcast. Kim also has a servant's heart and wants to help from her own personal experiences. A wonderful example of turning tragedy into hope. Kevin has also been an open book about his struggles in hopes that they will benefit others. I appreciate both of their commitment to making this world a better place. So, as you're going into the Mondays feeling less than...you're not alone, AND use the time you usually spend dreading to find a way out of the dreaded Mondays.
