Hey everyone! Today marks the beginning of a new style of blog for me, inspired by Emma from folk features and my IT whiz, David. I’m stepping into the world of guest responses, aiming to share insights that might resonate with you. Kicking off this venture is my partner, Debs, who I affectionately call my co-captain on this journey, the A Team, navigating the complexities of mental health together. Question 1: What was the best advice you ever received? Debs struggled with this one, noting that while we often seek advice, we genuinely want someone to echo our own thoughts rather than challenge them. It’s rare for advice to stick, don’t you think? Question 2: What helps you in a low place? For Debs, laughter is crucial—food, sarcasm, and having a good laugh (or a good cry) with close friends goes a long way. She emphasizes the importance of confronting that dark voice in your head with reason rather than conflict. Every person’s experience is unique, shaped by their past and environment. But as we age, it gets easier; we gain understanding and perspective. In her words, "The light at the end of the tunnel isn't a trickster—it’s hope. And that’s what I cling to." I hope this new format speaks to you! Catch my blog every Thursday at 9:30 am UK time. If you’re interested in participating, drop a comment or shoot me an email!

July 24th is International Self-Care Day! What is self-care? ~ the practice of taking action to preserve/improve your health, ~ the practice of taking an active role in protecting your mental and physical well-being & happiness, ~ the proactive process of implementing healthy coping techniques during periods of stress, ~ activities that support your overall mental & physical health! The team at True North understands that life is BUSY! Between work, school, children, partners, and everything in-between, it can be easy to forget to spend time on ourselves. Let this International Self-Care Day remind you to make your needs a priority! SO! What does self-care look like for you?

For 2025, let's focus on intentions, not rigid goals. Decide what you value and want to experience, then choose one small, realistic action to set you in the right direction. ✨Intentions are more flexible—if you miss one day, you can restart tomorrow. We can reset the intention with what we've learned along the way. Then, they'll become well, more intentional. 😉 ✨To begin: decide what you would like to experience more of (being more loving, laughing more, being more courageous, improving mental health, achieving better balance, etc.). ✨Then choose small, realistic actions you can take that will allow you to experience more of those things. ✨ BTW: while you can't control external events, you can control your choices and actions. ✨In summary, if your focus is on creating intentions and concrete actions, rather than potentially overwhelming goals, you can get more of what you want in 2025! Best wishes! With love and gratitude to you, my beautiful connections, Julia (GG) 💗

🧠 Men's Mental Health Week 🧠 Instead of finding a photo on google and posting a standard "men's mental health week" image, here's my team... I know we have all experienced stress and/or anxiety in the past... maybe related to work, family, relationships, other things... A lot of people feel that admitting to these struggles would be seen as a sign of weakness, but... True strength lies in acknowledging our challenges and seeking support when we need it. We’re stronger together. To all my connections in recruitment and sales, especially the men: It's okay to not be okay. Your mental health is just as important as your sales targets. Let’s break the stigma, open up the conversation, and support each other. If you're struggling, reach out. If you're able to, lend an ear to someone who might need it. Josh Smith James Cockburn I'll be your shoulder to cry on any day ;)

To all of those following me for insights on individual and organizational mental health and communication E.MOTION Centre I will be taking time off from social media to wander in Norwegian mountains and just be. 🧡 I'll be back in August with updates to E.MOTION, helping individuals and leaders in new ways to foster mental well-being. 🌱In the meanwhile, remember: Unless you fill up your cup with the feelings of joy, presence, calm and deep connection, your cup will overflow with momentary satisfactions coming from fulfilling obligations or living up to expectations, eventually leaving you feeling empty. And if you wanna feel connected, why not start by the best first thing: listening - to yourself and to others. Here's my latest newsletter issue on empathetic listening, in case you missed it: https://lnkd.in/daNt8jpi Take care 🌱
