Such great energy from the 20+ students we toured through our Illinois factory! Many in the cohort from Revolution Workshop had no idea there were construction job opportunities in an indoor manufacturing environment. Great alignment between our two organizations: They train students, we hire and continue training employees! #jobcreation #careers #structuralclt #constructionjobs #manufacturingjobs
Revolution Workshop, a Chicago based organization that builds skills, hope, and resilience in underserved communities through construction job training and job creation, dropped by last week with their current class for a tour of our world-class manufacturing facility. As the world's largest CLT manufacturer, we certainly had a lot to be proud of and show off. From our highly automated assembly line to our structural finishing department, this group had a chance to see it all! And hopefully some of them will be joining us in the near future as we expand our operations and have new opportunities to fill. #RevolutionWorkshop #FactoryTours #Illinois #Chicago #CLT #ConstructionJobs #ManufacturingJobs

https://lnkd.in/g3bQN2XM Construction is for everyone. I've written about the need for #veterans and disenfranchised #collegestudents and high school students to consider the specialty contracting trades. - better pay than the average of professional jobs after a four-year degree - away from a desk and exploring the indoors and outdoors - task completion is good for the soul. Tangible creation is hard-earned work - advancement to management positions after the wear of field operations increases with age - zero debt and great pay during a meaningful on-the-job learning and education process - transferable to any geography: remote or urban, hot or cold, red or blue. - advancing technology and nimbleness to learn adjacent skills with lasers, robotics, controls, etc. - Vitamin D. We all think that mineral might be a joke until you sit at a desk depressed and lethargic. Kids and young adults need less screens and more movement with the sun. - teams. Craftspeople develop lifelong friendships as they build together in the exact locations for decades. This work has meaning and purpose. Share this article to those who value the ideals above. #constructiontitan 🗻🗻🦺🦺🦬🦬 #purposebuilder #biggerthanbuildings #construction #trades #craftspeople #mechanicalcontractors #electricians #carpenters #roofers #excavators #plumbers #concretefinishers #builders #students #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransinconstruction

Leaving Oshkosh, WI today after have a great working session yesterday. I love getting together with this team. There is always great energy, we have high levels of trust, and always have fun while working. There is nothing like walking a "job site". Why the ""? This job site was inside, in a manufacturing facility. These mods will get shipped to an entire other state. Modular construction is so much more than just "prefab". It is about creating a highly collaborative culture to identify efficiencies and push the limits to what is possible. As a engineer, it means continuing to focus on the installer. Providing more details, not less. Exploring alternative products and strategies to expedite manufacturing. 🏗 Construction is making moves. I am excited to see what the future holds for this team and these projects as we roll into next year! Industrialized construction is just around the corner.

October is 🚧 #CareersinConstructionMonth 🏗! What used to be a life threatening career is becoming a career of choice for our newest workforce - Gen Z (also called the "Toolbelt Generation") as the number of students enrolled in vocational-focused 🛠 community colleges increased 📈 16% from 2022 to 2023. Improving safety only emerged within the last 50-80 years. Even in the past 30 years, we have witnessed massive change in safety protocols and equipment upgrades. Hardhats were not mandatory on jobsites. Jobsites had no security. During construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, it was expected that one person would die for every $1 million spent. Regulations - both local and national - including the OSHA Act of 1970 helped increase safety awareness, education, and protocol. Technology, safer tools, fall protection, hardhats, PPE, virtual reality, robotics, security are all part of that innovation. With increased safety and security, our next generation can safety #BuildaCareer in construction. We are excited what the future holds as we remain on the frontlines for many of these emerging technologies, jobsites across the country, and improving our infrastructure for this great country. 🇺🇲 #SafeandSecure Cameron Ferguson Nick Bartolotta

This is great news. For decades a university degree has been considered the "gold standard," leaving students who didn't fit into a confining academic method or simply couldn't afford tuition out in the cold. Not to mention the misconception that trades don't require a high degree of intelligence, when, in reality, they often require a depth of intelligence, ingenuity, and work ethic that far surpasses most other professions. These prevailing attitudes combined with our recent push to invest in infrastructure have created a vast shortage of skilled labor. The Associated Builders and Contractors recently reported "The construction industry will need to attract an estimated 501,000 additional workers on top of the normal pace of hiring in 2024 to meet the demand for labor." Hopefully, Gen Z will lead the way and help fill the gap sooner rather than later. https://lnkd.in/gFyHNjSj #infrastructure #trades #skilledlabor
