PlayStation 5 Pro comparison: What’s different from the regular PS5?

Sony is reportedly asking developers to get their games ready for PS5 Prooptimization, including existing titles and ones still in development. A new report from The Verge suggests that the PS5 Pro will place a greater emphasis on powerful graphical features like ray tracing, thus directly addressing one of the base PlayStation 5's biggest weaknesses: its inability (for the most part) to run ray traced games at a stable framerate. Reportedly, Sony is preparing a "Trinity Enhanced" label (named after the PS5 Pro's codename) to indicate that a game has been optimized for PS5 Pro. This will apply to both upcoming games and updates for titles that already exist. But this Astro Bot? It’s an entirely new level – think platforming perfection mixed with slapstick, and yeah, it’s pretty amazing. Let’s start with the visuals – and prepare to have your eyeballs spoiled. The graphics are next-level! Every world is a vibrant playground, packed with detail, and Astro’s galaxy feels like stepping into an animated dream. And then there’s the story – simple, sure, but with enough charm to keep you hooked. Astro’s ship breaks down, his little bot friends are scattered across the galaxy, and now he’s on a hilarious (and surprisingly emotional) quest to bring them back. The game's slapstick humor is undeniably creative and fun. But the real magic is in the DualSense controller. Every jump, every punch, every Astro tumble (and there are plenty!) comes through in the haptics. It’s like the controller is alive in your hands, making you feel every cartoonish moment. The speakers in the controller? They’re next-level too, adding a whole new dimension with sound effects right from the little guy himself. And the gyroscope – tilting the controller to move Astro feels surprisingly natural. It’s all part of the slapstick charm; one second you’re guiding him gracefully, the next you’re accidentally flinging him into a wall. Oops! The speaker on the controller being utilized in such a remarkable way is what truly made me fall in love with this game, and I wonder why other PS5 titles aren't taking advantage of the controller's speaker. This is truly a fantastic sensory experience. And let’s talk about how much this game is like a love letter to classic Nintendo platformers, especially Mario. Team Asobi clearly knew what they were doing. They took that Nintendo charm, threw in some playful surprises, and made it PlayStation’s own. The levels are packed with secrets, jokes, and mini heart attacks when you miss that one tricky jump! And Astro’s expressions? Pure comedy gold – I mean, the guy manages to look surprised, determined, and slightly clueless all at once. There are a few minor gripes – the campaign is a bit short, and there’s no way to change the difficulty. But honestly, that doesn’t even matter when you’re having this much fun. Astro Bot is more than a game; it’s like PlayStation saying, “Hey, we can do playful, nostalgic platformers too!” And they nailed it. So join me as I break down why Astro Bot is a must-play.
