This is a valid point, but I also struggle to understand it - why go to the office if the same work can be done from home? If a software engineer is attending all meetings and all communication is happening on Teams, then why is going to the office mandatory? #remote #workfromhome
I have worked for 13+ years in Software Engineering and have lived in cities like Bangalore/Hyderabad/Noida/Kolkata. But I am failing to understand one basic fact, why all Product-Based Software companies are still majorly in Bangalore and a few in Hyderabad/Pune/Noida/Gurgaon/Chennai? With the population going over 1.4BN, and Software Companies being the most attractive of all in terms of employment, why aren't companies coming to Tier-2 cities like Vizag, Nagpur, Raipur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Jaipur, and many more? Look at the infra in those cities, it's quite good and the flight connectivity is also quite good. If the companies offer the same competitive package as in any metro city, employees would love to work in a tier-2 city and relocate at their convenience. As that city won't be as overcrowded, rent/flat prices won't be touching sky limits, commute time will be lesser, and it will be a good opportunity for that city to grow. This move will benefit not just the employees who will now have a chance to live in their own Tier-2 city or nearby but also the employer as the Infra cost/maintenance cost/labour cost will be much cheaper in those cities. Hence, requesting all the Administrative heads of the companies to give a thought and also give opportunities to tier-2 cities to grow in terms of IT Presence, as this will be a win-win situation for everyone. PS: I know just one of this post, wont change anything. But if you guys repost this, hopefully it might come to the notice of big decision makers. Btw I hail from tier-3 city, so this move wont impact me directly, but I can see the pain of overburden in tier-1 cities, where the locals have started saying why so many migrants are polluting our beautiful city.
