I had an incredible experience presenting a solution on empowering youth in digital innovation at the 80th United Nations ESCAP session in Bangkok. In 2023, about one-third of the global population, or 2.6 billion people, remained offline. Bridging this gap is a long-term endeavor, but in the interim, community leaders, politicians, and schools can play a crucial role in promoting digital financial literacy and economic citizenship education. Here's how we can achieve this: 1. Achieving universal broadband access by 2030 will require over US$400 billion. Neither the government nor private sector can accomplish this alone. Bold political will/reforms/ engagements are essential. 2. People are easily influenced by their community leaders’ values and behaviors. We strongly need to encourage community leaders to promote digital financial inclusion to foster accountability and financially resilient communities. 3. Value-based education in School that focuses on skills like empathy, cooperation, and critical thinking prepares students to navigate and contribute positively to our suspenful digital world. #DigitalInnovation #DigitalFinance #FinancialLiteracy

Thank you Alain Biner for inviting us to the fourth Liechtenstein Dialogue for Development (LDD) titled Education for Growth https://lnkd.in/dXeu_B9z held at Google Switzerland as a strong promoter of education and the future of learning. The event brought together a rich group of stakeholders from the private, philanthropic and institutional sector to address critical challenges in global education and development powered through technology. We have enjoyed the rich discussion and the take home messages such as: 👇 1️⃣ Collaboration is essential: 🤝 Complex challenges like youth unemployment require governments, private sectors, and civil society to work together effectively. 2️⃣ Connectivity as a foundation: 🌐 Over 2 billion people remain disconnected globally. Initiatives like connectivity credits and its marketplaces offer innovative approaches to reducing this gap. 3️⃣ Teachers are (the) key: 👩🏫👨🏫 Providing educators with training and tools improves outcomes and ensures they can effectively integrate technology into classrooms. 4️⃣ Localized education matters: 🌍📚 Tailoring content to local languages and cultural contexts leads to more impactful learning experiences. 5️⃣ Technology must be purposeful: 💻📱 Solutions need to be context-specific, whether through AI, data-driven interventions, or practical tools for educators. 6️⃣ Outcomes over inputs: 🎯📊 Shifting focus from processes (e.g., training teachers) to results (e.g., literacy and numeracy improvements) ensures meaningful impact. 7️⃣ Innovative financing: 💰💡 Approaches like outcomes-based funding bridge resource gaps and enable scalable solutions. 8️⃣ Data-driven insights: 📈📋 Localized data collection helps address real-world challenges, like attendance drops during climate shocks. 9️⃣ Ethical data use: 🔒⚖️ Responsible data practices empower communities while safeguarding privacy and consent. 🔟 Government leadership: 🏛️ True impact depends on inclusive, multi-sector collaboration, with governments playing a central role. The messages resonated with our work at the Suyana Foundation which supports education through holistic, locally-led projects that empower individuals and communities to build sustainable futures. We look very much forward to leveraging on the contacts made and to the next edition in 2025. #EducationForGrowth 📘 #Connectivity 🌐 #SustainableDevelopment 🌱 #SDG4 🎯 #ImpactThroughPartnership 🌟 #Collectivephilanthropy

We had an engaging conversation with Nitish Barole, Jiayinaer Bolati, and Reon van der Merwe – three dynamic professionals from India, China and South Africa – about their transformative experience from the 2023 MGG Academy at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS). It was fascinating to learn how this immersive program reshaped their perspectives on international cooperation and sustainable development. While we highlight their challenge from the action component of the #MGGAcademy, we also discuss other interesting topics such as the many facets of youth engagement or opportunities for triangular cooperation. The Change Maker Project that was proposed by the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences asked how can the co-production of evidence-based and actionable knowledge between research and international NGOs be strengthened. For IZNE it was crucial to generate new knowledge jointly and equitably with practice partners and their beneficiaries to make sure all voices are heard. In the prototype implemented by Jiayinaer, Nitish and Reon at IDOS, they navigated the intricate terrain of academia-civil society partnerships, unraveling the secrets to fostering impactful collaborations. Join them in this development talk as they delve into the tapestry of global challenges, unveiling actionable insights and strategies for building a brighter, more inclusive future. To underline the need for a glocal dimension to effectively co-produce crucial knowledge, it is worth saying that this interview has been taken by Lutz Drieling for the Romanian International Development Review, which is published by ARCADIA. Lutz is originally from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany and currently a Research Fellow at the Făgăraș Research Institute in Southern Transylvania, Romania. Before completing his MA in International Public Affairs at the University of Bucharest last year, he obtained a BA in Sustainable Social Policy from the very challenge giver, the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. Moreover, the interview was facilitated and coordinated by Roland Müller, Board Member at ARCADIA and himself also a participant in the #IDOS 2023 MGG Academy. ARCADIA is committed to further work aimed at closing the gap between academia and practice in order to streamline a better action-oriented understanding of specific development challenges. One such example is the "What does Research offer to Development NGOs and vice versa?" workshop organised by EADI European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes in May. The workshop, which was conducted as a round table, explored how the co-production of new knowledge can be strengthened and made more effective to tackle global development challenges. Stefan Cibian, PhD, President of ARCADIA, was a panelist in this event organised by Katja Bender and facilitated by Dr. Sebastian Heinen from IZNE.

Hello Everyone, I am thrilled to announce a significant milestone: completing week 1 of the International Development Nano Project at the prestigious The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), in collaboration with Practera. Our dedicated team at Auxesia has embarked on this journey with enthusiasm and determination. Our focus lies on delving into the intricacies of the East African and South African markets, guided by the invaluable insights provided by Spring Impact. This venture is not merely about understanding these markets; it's about fostering sustainable development and making a positive impact on communities. One of the cornerstones of our project is sustainability. We understand that true progress must be environmentally conscious and socially responsible. As such, we are committed to integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of our research and eventual implementation. In addition to our focus on sustainability, our project also encompasses key concepts from development studies. We're examining issues such as economic inequality, access to education and healthcare, gender equality, and the role of technology in driving progress. By addressing these complex issues holistically, we aim to create comprehensive solutions that have a lasting impact. Our approach extends beyond traditional research methods. We have conducted in-depth analyses of countries in Southern Africa, examining factors such as political stability, infrastructure development, and environmental policies. This comprehensive understanding allows us to tailor our strategies to the unique needs and challenges of each country. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. By leveraging the expertise of our partners and engaging with local stakeholders, we strive to develop innovative solutions tailored to the specific challenges and opportunities present in East Africa and South Africa. Week 1 has been enlightening, laying the foundation for deeper exploration and strategic planning in the weeks to come. We are excited about the journey ahead and remain committed to making a difference through our work in international development. Meet my brilliant team: Ivona Klampfl | Anastasiia Golovchenko | Mate Gabitsinashvili | Xuanyi Lu | Cathy H Stay tuned for further updates as we continue this transformative journey. Together, let's create a brighter future for all. #InternationalDevelopment #LSE #Practera #SpringImpact #GlobalImpact #CommunityDevelopment #Innovation #Sustainability #EnvironmentalConservation #DevelopmentStudies
