Another Intel retiree here! 28 years and like many, I was fortunate to qualify for enhanced retirement and took some time to reflect. My years at Intel revealed how its environment often hindered my growth and happiness. Frequent reorgs, toxic engineering managers, office politics, and long, draining night meetings took a toll. I'm excited to now focus on goals that truly align with my passions. Intel, for me, was always more of a means to an end—a stable place to raise a family. I met my husband, got married, and raised our daughter during my time here, and for that, I'm grateful. But it was always just a job, never a source of inspiration or purpose. While I've had the privilege of working with remarkable people, the workplace has dramatically shifted. I witnessed many changes, starting under Andy Grove the company was entirely different, but the culture has rotted drastically under Pat. There's been a loss of transparency, motivation, and respect, largely due to executive leadership. Too many layers of toxic managers are building fiefdoms, stifling innovation and progress. I remember a 2022 meeting with Gordon Moore where he told Pat, "Don't screw it up." Sadly, his advice seems to have been ignored. Program managers like me have often been overlooked, and undermined. Pat's comment calling us "checkers" was unfortunate and misinformed. PMs are the glue that holds projects together, but we've been undervalued for many years. I've seen firsthand how this lack of support has slowed progress and caused missed opportunities across Intel. Thank you for the experiences and memories. I wish you all the best. Enjoy the special goodbye video we had fun making. https://lnkd.in/gu7Yk5Dh

We've been covering MinIO on the #Rundown for years, and they've been a frequent Tech Field Day presenter too. Now they have introduced their next-generation enterprise product, dubbed #AIStor. This release adds a complete AI storage stack, from key manager, console, to catalog, and has more tricks up its sleeve: The new promptObject capability brings self-describing metadata, AIHub is a drop-in replacement for Hugging Face, and S3 over RDMA challenges NFS over RDMA, not to mention GPUDirect. #Rundown

For company to build their story bank is from their customers. It's not just to tell the world how good the company is. It also motivates its employees because they now know how meaningful their work is. OVHcloud 's story tells how AMD works together with our customers to help their customers. #AMDBrandAmbassador

How the world changes in 10 years... When I first joined, Hadoop and Open Channel were still hot topics. I spent more hours than I care to count testing HBase with our 1st generation product in an unairconditioned warehouse in Fremont (mostly fighting Java GC latency). Now here we are on our 4th generation NVMe SSDs along with an explosion of recently announced silicon. Persistence really is a fitting word. But we've also had steady engineering leadership that has made sure that each generation built on the one before it. This doesn't always happen (IYKYK). I'm very proud of our latest Gen5 NVMe controller and SSD because it truly is the culmination of 10 years of experience from some of the best engineers in the SSD industry (that and it's screaming fast). If you caught me in the video, my contribution to the "one word that describes ScaleFlux" was "open." Since I joined, our internal work culture has been one of openness and visibility. But more than that, we strive to be open to our customers, our partners, and our industry. For example, we were the first SSD manufacturer to open source hardware designs through OCP. This spirit of openness is not something that goes on our datasheets, but I think it's just as important as hitting 3M+ IOPS. Here's to the next 10 years.
🎉 What a journey it has been! As we celebrate 10 incredible years at ScaleFlux, we’re thrilled to announce the release of our new corporate video, which retraces our history from the very beginning to where we are today. This video captures the passion and dedication of our team, the milestones we’ve achieved, and our recent celebration with the entire ScaleFlux family. 🚀 In perfect timing with this momentous occasion, we’ve also launched the CSD5000 series, a groundbreaking advancement in SSD technology. As Hao Zhong highlights, the CSD5000 is set to redefine SSD functionality for data-intensive applications, building on our legacy of innovation and setting the stage for future breakthroughs. Join us as we celebrate a decade of pushing boundaries and look ahead to many more years of innovation! 🎥 Watch the video here https://lnkd.in/gpNZ8JVZ #10YearAnniversary

Intel recently announced a significant leadership change by parting ways with CEO Pat Gelsinger as of December 1st. This decision follows closely on the heels of Gelsinger's announcement regarding Intel's acquisition of $7.86 billion in CHIPS Act funding, a development initially seen as a positive stride for the company. The board's choice to appoint CFO David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus as interim leaders highlights a growing sense of urgency to address the company's challenges. Under Gelsinger's tenure, Intel pursued ambitious reforms and a strategic shift with the IDM 2.0 model, aiming for significant transformation. However, the company faced a considerable market capitalization decline, shedding $150 billion over four years, and the suspension of its dividend further compounded investor concerns. Gelsinger's impressive track record at VMware positioned him as a transformative leader, yet his vision for Intel appeared misaligned with prevailing industry dynamics, leading to mixed outcomes. Looking ahead, Intel's interim leadership is tasked with navigating complex challenges to reset and stabilize the company's future trajectory. #Intel #LeadershipChange #TechIndustry #Strategy #Transformation #MarketTrends #Innovation #BusinessLeadership

Intel covers up manufacturing defects, gets caught being dishonest with customers, suffers a PR failure with tech outlets, experiences their biggest stock drop in 50 years, stops dividends, drops 35b in market capital, announces 12,000 layoffs, and goes into risk averse damage control mode. The worst casualty of all this in my opinion is the complete sabotaging of trust with its customer base. Also if you are not familiar with Steve at Gamers nexus don’t discount him. He has already taken major players to task legitimately including ASUS and Newegg. He is basically the “60 minutes of tech” expose pieces at this point. We continually see companies exchange consumer confidence and or safety for profit and while they almost always experience short term games or prevent losses these efforts often end with either extreme losses or complete ruination. The disappointing AI returns are largely responsible for the drop which is terrible news since the impacts of this are still to come. Oh and the class action lawsuits are already gearing up. On the plus side…good time to buy?
