We have this thing called a Client Advisory Board, you may have heard of CABs before. On this board are 25 Chief Procurement Officers and Heads of IT Sourcing, all currently sitting inside the top companies in the US. They told us some things last board meeting, and I want to share with you all here below. You won't regret reading it, I promise. • Generative AI is hot, but needs a cautious approach. Companies are seeing huge efficiency gains, but data quality and privacy are major concerns. • SaaS and AI tools are teaming up. Businesses are using AI to manage their software, making sure they get the most out of their tech investments. • Don't forget the "tail spend"! Those small purchases can add up. It’s important for companies to track and manage these costs to save big. • Unused software is a money pit. Optimization efforts pay off huge every single time. • Virtualization needs a closer look as many companies are overspending on it. What is virtualization? It's a technology that creates virtual versions of servers, storage devices, networks, and operating systems. Virtualization can improve efficiency and reduce costs - but the cost management of it can be a sore point for enterprises. Up to 15% savings are possible. • Broadcom is still a challenge. Since acquiring VMware, Broadcom has become a tough negotiator. Prepare with as much time beforehand that is possible. Our advice to IT leaders? • Embrace AI, but manage costs carefully. • Regularly audit your software and infrastructure. • Get a handle on your tail spend.
