IATA shared in their 2023 annual review that they’re working on new standards to make it easier for travelers to show they're allowed to enter a country using digital methods.📱 This means less time spent at check-in desks or gates showing papers. Airports are starting to use systems that let people board thanks to biometric identifier, but in many cases, travelers still have to prove their admissibility with paper documentation. 🪪 With Amadeus Traveler Ready, travel companies can automatize and digitalize this verification process, removing all the unnecessary manual frictions and associated queues across the journey. 🕒 Want to know more about this and other solutions? Anything that makes business travellers’ lives easier and reduces friction when they are on the road has to be a good thing. Biometric technology has long been seen as the gateway to significantly improving the experience of getting through an airport and especially avoiding long queues at immigration. 2024 could mark a new watershed in this process with the introduction of new technology at European airports and transport hubs, including Frankfurt airport, which is installing facial recognition systems across all terminals. This type of biometric tech is already being used at airport e-gates in Australia and Dubai. Expect many more biometric developments this year. #businesstravelmanagement #travelmanagement #travelmanagementcompany #destinationmanagementcompany #corporatetravelmanagers #corporatetravelcompany #destinationmanagement #riskmanagementtravel #globalmobility #travelvisas #traveldocuments #travelriskmanagementcompany #travelmanagementservices #leisuretravel

Facial recognition technology is increasingly being used at airports for identification verification. This technology, already implemented at numerous international airports, enhances security and streamlines processes like immigration and customs. In the U.S., the TSA uses it at over 30 airports, with plans to extend it to 400 more. Airlines like Delta, American, and United are incorporating facial recognition for various traveler services, including PreCheck screening and lounge access. What are the concerns about implementing this technology? #Aero #Technology #Innovation https://lnkd.in/dY3prwM4

#Airports increased importance (and complexity) as development hubs not only for cities or regions, but for entire countries. #efficiencyboost and #connectivity are key for these operations. Congrats to #Amadeus for this acquisition #smarttravel #smartcities #smartbusiness
In huge news coming out of the airports realm this week, Amadeus agreed to part with €320 million to acquire biometrics solutions provider, Vision-Box! 🤝 For Amadeus, the primary attraction is, without doubt, Vision-Box’s leading position and expertise in the border control space where it claims to have a greater than 30% share of the market. 🌐 Indeed, Valour Consultancy’s new Smart Airports Tracker service – which provides a comprehensive view of self-service and automation in airports – puts its share of the ABC eGate market at 33%. Vision-Box also boasts a sizeable installed base of kiosks, desktop units and totems used by immigration officials at busy land, sea and air borders throughout the world. 🛫 Read the article below, as we explore how each entity perfectly complements one another and how the coming together of these two Iberian companies should hasten the adoption of the holy grail: the seamless passenger journey. 👇 https://lnkd.in/dftw_A3r #SeamlessPassengerJourney #Airports #Borders
