Worldpanel by Kantar’s latest #EoD on the Australian video streaming market, uncovered that advertising-based video on demand (AVoD) services are on the rise. A growth which reflects a shift towards more affordable, ad-supported content. Subscription video on demand (SVoD) services, however, are facing criticism despite being ad-free. Subscribers are unhappy with rising costs and a lack of new content, leading them to question the value of these services. Interestingly, AVoD subscribers, such as those on BINGE and Paramount are more satisfied compared to SVoD users. This highlights a shift in content consumption preferences, emphasizing the need for media and entertainment businesses to adapt to evolving consumer expectations to stay competitive.
