Curious about who'll win the 2024 Euro? ⚽️🤔 We wanted to explore which of the semi-finalists is a winner in a slightly different field— alternative proteins! 🇫🇷 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 France has solidified its position as a foodtech powerhouse, focusing on sustainability and innovation. Recently, top players like Danone, Michelin and Groupe Crédit Agricole have partnered to scale up precision fermentation—a leap towards more sustainable food systems. 🇪🇸 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 On the alternative meat front, the Barcelona-based startup Heura Foods closed €40 million in Series B funding earlier this year. This marks one of the largest plant-based rounds in 2024, signaling strong growth potential in the Spanish market. 🇳🇱 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 Known as a long time foodtech pioneer, the Netherlands is where the first cultured hamburger was born 10 years ago. This is another fantastic endorsement of the impact the It's Fresh! technology can have globally - thanks Forward Fooding for the acknowledgment. Before starting in the fresh produce industry, I had no idea of the scale of the ethylene problem, and the deleterious effects of the solutions used by industry today. Given the responsibilities of the industry to feed the world in a more sustainable way, reducing its footprint comes principally from reducing waste. Managing ethylene is a critical part of achieving this. It's wonderful being a part of the team bringing the It's Fresh RYPEN technology to market - it's a solution that is truly miles ahead of everything else. And that's great news for the fresh produce industry, and the planet more generally. #climatechange #agriculture #packaging
