We all know we need to change our food systems for the planet, but the true question is: How do we actually facilitate this change with all the stakeholders in the value chain? During the Future Food-Tech event in London, I will be moderating a roundtable on how to drive sustainable transformation across the entire value chain, from consumer behaviour to distribution. The goal? Identify systemic challenges, such as startup/corporate collaboration, innovation adoption, risk aversion and scalability. During this discussion, we will uncover together actionable steps for better collaboration in our global food system. But I need you to be part of this conversation. 👉 Join the roundtable in London 👉 Ask your questions or remarks in the comments below See you in London! #foodtech #futureoffood #foodindustry

Hi, Below is a link to our latest report, this time on the use of ingredients with lower levels of processing and how they might benefit health and sustainability. This is an area of huge interest in academia, but one that perhaps does not have much industry traction yet, which arguably makes it one of the most important innovaiton areas out there. There's also a fair bit of discussion on Ultra Processed Foods, with some thoughts about how companies might develop sensible policies and strategies. If we can focus on the actual, measurable differences caused by processing, there is a chance we can shift away from the hugely unhelpful 'all processing is bad' narrative that dominates at the moment. Enjoy reading, and please get in touch with any questions or queries. We have a lot more information on all of the technologies discussed in this report, and happy to talk about how they might impact your business. https://lnkd.in/ecQa8f9W

Yes, we still face challenges, yes, the headwinds are still strong. And we have dire industry announcements that illustrate it. But the fundamental case for cultivated meat is more than compelling. It is needed, it is possible, it is coming. And it's delish. With intelligent choices, technology breakthroughs, and hard work by great people, we will see results sooner rather than later. Oh, as it happens, 2 of the best will be in the panel at Future Food-Tech next week. They also have great investors.... See you in Chicago. 🇪🇺 📊 Where is the money going in European FoodTech? I am somewhat of a geek... so I always love love a good graph when I see it. A couple of weeks ago, I saw a similar graph on investments in ClimateTech, so I thought it would be nice to do something similar for FoodTech. I used the data we have on European FoodTech for 2023 and H1 2024. As you can see below, the result is quite visual (and I think also quite interesting). We can see that: - food science leads the way, notably with alt proteins - delivery is still super strong - agtech follows suit with investments in AgBiotech (bioinputs notably). This provides a map of where the money is going and somehow of what the priorities or opportunities for "the future of food" looks like in the mind of investors. #foodtech #investments

There are some ground-breaking technologies and innovations across agtech and foodtech, which will increase opportunities for a sustainable supply chain. Some of these were recently highlighted at Eden Search and True.’s jointly hosted event: ‘Reimagining Agtech – Transforming the Future of Food’. However, it’s a race against the clock and the delivery of sustainability projects ultimately still seems to come down to pricing. When we are still in an inflationary market in fresh food, one question still dominates the conversation: how inclined are consumers to pay higher prices for their food from companies that demonstrate their contribution to sustainability? Eden Search & Select Ltd supports businesses across the global food supply chain to ensure they have the right leadership talent in place to maximise their business’ growth potential. Please get in touch with Morten Andresen Dani Walker David Macaulay to discuss how we can support your business. Dear Readers, We invite you to read: "Circular supply chains and Industry 4.0: an analysis of interfaces in Brazilian foodtechs" Authors: Tiago Hennemann & Simone Sehnem This study explores the integration of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies with circular supply chains (CSC) in Brazilian foodtechs, focusing on stakeholder perspectives to assess efficiency and sustainability impacts. Using qualitative exploratory research, eight foodtechs were analyzed through interviews and content analysis, identifying 15 CSC practices and three key I4.0 technologies. While I4.0 adoption is in its early stages, the findings highlight its potential to enhance CSC efficiency, with stakeholder engagement playing a critical role. The research also emphasizes the need for regulatory support to facilitate these integrations. Overall, this study provides empirical insights into the synergy between I4.0 and circular economy models in the foodtech sector.
