Despite some progress, many Sustainable Development Goals and targets remain off track. The Universal Periodic Review can help to speed up their implementation by 2030. More than half of UPR recommendations refer to specific SDG targets. These UPR recommendations, which range from strengthening national human rights institutions to facilitating access to justice, ending child marriage, addressing inequalities, and improving quality of education, all contribute to advance the SDGs and ensure a human rights-based approach to development.
