Discover the art of effective communication in marketing! 📝 Short Copy vs. Long Copy: Each has its place and purpose. 🔄Short copy, like catchy social media posts, grabs attention instantly. For example, “Limited Time Offer: 50% Off!” Long copy, such as detailed blog posts, explains product benefits thoroughly. 📚 Attention Spans: While short, attention spans can be captivated by a well-crafted headline or image. For instance, “Transform Your Skin in Just 7 Days!” 👀 Grabbing Attention: Use short, impactful calls-to-action like “Buy Now!” to prompt immediate action from readers. 🛒 Explaining Benefits: Long product descriptions offer in-depth explanations, aiding customers in informed decisions. 📦 Adding Value: Detailed blog posts provide valuable industry insights, positioning your brand as an authority. 💡 When to Use Short Copy: Perfect for social media posts, where brevity is key. Example: “New Arrivals: Shop Now!” 🛍️ When to Use Long Copy: Ideal for landing pages, providing detailed product/service information. Example: Software product features, benefits, and pricing. 💻 Conclusion: Blend short and long copy to communicate effectively. Understanding when to use each type can help you create engaging and persuasive marketing materials. 🚀 #Copywriting #MarketingCommunication #ShortVsLongCopy #designerlife #designer #uxdesigner #uxdesign #uidesigner #webdesign #uiux #userinterface #userexperience #design

"93% of the first impressions are related to design, as seen on Adobe. It only takes ~0.05 seconds for a reader to form an opinion about your brand, as seen on Forbes. Enter (company name), which has helped 200+ businesses get a new identity that effectively showcases their services and personality." This pitch, as part of my skills assessment for a role at a design and web dev agency, got me a job offer with them. So essentially, this copy did convert so it wins. Listen, creating a good copy isn't magic. If it hooks the reader in those first crucial moments, clearly conveys your brand identity, and addresses a pain point or need, your customer engagement will likely increase. Until next time. #contentmarketing #copywriting #branding #design

So your website isn’t driving sales, eh? And you recently redesigned it?? 😭 ↓ Sound familiar? ↓ Your website gets outdated, and naturally you want it to look as great as your competitors! So you hire a design team to polish it up, and WOW do they do an amazing job. It’s slick, inviting, and even loads really fast! BUT You forgot one thing: People read words Those words can drive action And you forgot to think about your words I’ve heard this story many many times over the years. Heck, at one time in my career I was even part of it. Companies put all their time and effort into the visual design, and overlook the most essential elements of marketing- the message. It’s the message that can: Make people aware And curious And interested And loyal It’s the one thing you should prioritize when you redesign your website, even OVER the visual design. The design is a vehicle to deliver the message (and it really SHOULD be done well), but a well-designed website that has no compelling message will not succeed. PSA: Next time, think holistically about your website. Plan for both the content and design! #messaging #strategy #branding #marketing #webdesign #copywriting – – – Hi! Going the Extra Mile Never Hurts... In my journey as a copywriter, I’ve learned that sometimes, going beyond the expected can make a significant difference. Recently, I had the opportunity to work on a project for Ramp Health, specifically creating a listicle for their supplement B4. The Challenge: The project’s initial brief was straightforward: craft a compelling listicle highlighting the benefits of B4. However, as I delved deeper into the project, I realized there was an opportunity to enhance the presentation and overall user experience. Going the Extra Mile: Instead of just delivering the copy, I decided to design a few elements of the listicle in Canva. This extra step was aimed at providing a visual representation of how the copy would look in the final design. Here’s what I did: 1. Visual Representation: I created a mock-up of some listicle elements using Canva, integrating the text with design elements. This helped in visualizing the final product and ensured the copy and design were in sync. 2. User Experience Focus: By designing the listicle, I could identify and suggest improvements to the layout, making the landing page more user-friendly and engaging. 3. Collaborative Feedback: Sharing the Canva design with the client facilitated better communication and faster iterations. The client could see the proposed changes and provide immediate feedback. The Outcome: This extra effort significantly improved the design process. The client appreciated the attention to detail and the proactive approach. The final listicle-style landing page was not only visually appealing but also more effective in conveying the benefits of B4, leading to higher user engagement. Key Takeaways: - Think Beyond the Brief: Identifying areas where you can add value beyond the given task can set you apart. - Embrace Design Thinking: Visualizing your copy in the context of design can lead to a more cohesive and user-friendly final product. - Enhance Collaboration: Tools like Canva can improve communication and expedite the feedback process. Going the extra mile not only helps in delivering exceptional results but also builds stronger client relationships. Always look for ways to add value and exceed expectations. #Copywriting #UserExperience #ClientSuccess #DesignThinking #Marketing

Strategy or creative copy? Navigating the grey area In the world of branding and marketing, it’s easy to think of strategy and creative copy as two distinct tasks – strategy tells us what to say, while creative tells us how to say it. But in practice, the line between the two is often blurred. Sometimes, what we think is a strategic direction might also serve as creative copy, and vice versa. So how do we determine which is which? Strategy: The blueprint Strategy serves as the foundation for all messaging. It outlines the goals, audience insights, and key brand values that shape the creative direction. Strategic text provides clarity. It focuses on the what and why, ensuring that the message is aligned with business goals and audience needs. It’s factual, clear, and guides the creative process without dictating the execution. Creative copy: Bringing it to life Once the strategic direction is set, creative copy transforms those insights into engaging language that resonates with the audience. It’s the “fun” part – the storytelling, the wordplay, and the emotional triggers. Creative copy is often more fluid, designed to capture attention, spark emotions, or influence actions. While strategy lays the foundation, creative copy brings it to life. When the lines blur In reality, the most successful projects are the ones where strategy and creative copy feel inseparable – where the “what” and the “how” work in harmony to create something that’s both meaningful and memorable. At Meijer + Walters, we nurture a culture of open collaboration which allows us to blur the lines. This strengthens the final message rather than creating confusion. So, the next time you find yourself wondering if something is strategy or creative copy, remember that it’s not about choosing one or the other – it’s about how the two work together to tell an engaging, rational, compelling story.
