In April, the HAFIS team gathered in Frankfurt am Main for a dynamic two-day workshop. This meeting was pivotal as we not only embarked on the second cycle of the HAFIS program but also took time to reflect upon the first cycle, exchanging experiences, lessons learned, and best practices. Our discussions included evaluations of the ongoing cycle, setting a well-informed foundation for advancing our objectives. Day 1 kicked off with vibrant discussions about the foundational goals for HAFIS and strategic planning for the upcoming cycle. We then shifted our focus to operational strategies, thoroughly examining the consortium's collaboration framework, defining roles, and setting clear expectations. 📈 Day 2 brought us into the realm of content strategies, where we dissected methodologies and set overarching goals for optimization. The sessions were not only highly interactive but also instrumental in fostering a rich exchange of ideas and strategies across different centers. 🧠 Beyond the discussions and strategic planning, the workshop provided a fantastic opportunity for us all to meet in person. Spending these days together not only strengthened our team spirit but also significantly boosted our motivation and passion. The social interactions we enjoyed heightened our collective commitment to making HAFIS a valuable and impactful resource that empowers researchers to transform their research into meaningful impact. 🤝 We are looking forward to our continued collaboration and are excited about the developments ahead for HAFIS. Accessing international research, data and compute can be challenging for research collaborations. The AAF is one of 79 Federations that offer researchers international connectivity through eduGAIN. Pioneered by GÉANT, the collaboration of European National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), eduGAIN enables simple and secure access to international content, services and resources to encourage global research collaboration. AAF's leadership team regularly participate in international conferences to share our knowledge and expertise, and inform future planning for the Federation. This week, some of AAF's leadership team attended TNC24 in Rennes, France. TNC24 assembles over 800 participants from 70 countries, representing global federations, research and education networks, schools and universities, technology providers, and many of the world’s most exciting scientific projects to explore a wide variety of topics. John Scullen, AAF's Head of Projects and Managed Services, presented updates from the AAF at the Research and Education FEDerations group (REFEDS) side meeting.
