DIH² facilitates connections that enable agile production in factories where speed and versatility are essential to meet customer demand. DIH² seeks to maximize productivity and optimize agility in manufacturing SMEs and Mid-Caps across Europe and aims to improve the cost-effectiveness of advanced robotics solutions and drive growth in the robotics market. The network already has an extensive membership across Europe, but continues to expand. In summary, DIH² is all about leveraging robotics and digitalization to create a more agile and competitive manufacturing landscape in Europe!" Not our words, but those of Microsoft Copilot. There's been a lot of discussion around #generativeai, its accuracy and how, where and when we should be using it. The tell for most of us is the response from an AI tool when we ask it about something that we are highly knowledgable about. Automation and robotics trends surround you as you walk the floor at Automate Show 2024 or simply scan the exhibitor news https://lnkd.in/gfhuYmjm. While I continue to see more bells and whistles in autonomous and collaborative robotics, heavier payload capacity, more efficient programming, and higher speed this or that, what really stands out is the omnipresence of AI. AI enablement is everywhere. It’s optimizing movement, assisting vision, collecting data, picking and placing—the applications are endless. AI sets the stage for an interesting future. AI enablement promises major efficiency breakthroughs. Why? Because AI observes large volumes of automation activities. System analysts then gather and review these observations to identify new ways to structure a process, design equipment, or organize a manufacturing floor. Automation and AI drive innovation across many manufacturing industries. What supports these AI initiatives is far less sexy, but critical. Try searching the Automate news for “Ethernet” and you’ll find several new communications products. Clearly, companies recognize the benefit of monitoring more and more of their manufacturing floor. Older systems that use serial, analog, etc. are now targets for digital IO. Interoperability also stands out. Companies are no longer willing to pay the price for custom fittings. They want the solutions they purchase to work together. Vendors are complying. While all this is good, there’s one piece of software that seems in short supply. I saw only one company boasting about a software package that gets its arms around the volume of data required to identify bottlenecks and guide users on how to improve the system.
