Immediately following the signing of the CHIPS Act in 2022, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published a report titled, “Strategic Opportunities for U.S. Semiconductor Manufacturing”. This report serves as a call to action to U.S. manufacturers regarding #metrology needs in the #semiconductor industry. #NEWS: Today, the Biden-Harris Administration issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) seeking proposals from eligible applicants for activities to establish and operate a CHIPS Manufacturing USA institute focused on digital twins for the semiconductor industry. The CHIPS for America Program anticipates up to approximately $285 million for a first-of-its-kind institute focused on the development, validation, and use of digital twins for semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging, assembly, and test processes. https://lnkd.in/eppG3-DS

An important element of the CHIPS Act is underway! Digital twins of semiconductor products, processes, and fabs, as well as the ecosystems in which they operate will underpin the industry’s advancement and enable workforce development at scale. Semiconductor design, engineering, manufacturing, and customer collaboration during product development will finally become possible with end-to-end digital continuity of digital twins hosted on secure cloud data platforms.
