DEA Proposes New Telehealth Prescribing Framework - DistilINFO Hospital IT The DEA's new telehealth prescribing framework introduces three registration categories for healthcare practitioners, enhancing the ability to prescribe controlled substances virtually. This includes core, advanced, and platform registrations, each tailored for specific needs. Compliance is key, with mandatory state registrations and electronic prescriptions following patient verification. Stricter guidelines for Schedule II medications require clinicians to be in the same state as patients. As the proposal aims to establish permanent rules post-pandemic, it balances accessibility with safety, addressing concerns around fraud prevention. This marks a pivotal shift in telehealth prescribing regulations. #Telehealth #HealthcareIT #DEA #Regulations #DigitalHealth #Telemedicine #PatientSafety ai.mediformatica.com #hospital #prescribing #telehealth #controlledsubstances #healthcare #telemedicine #telehealthprescribing #this #administration #physicians #platform #advanced #digitalhealth #healthit #healthtech #healthcaretechnology @MediFormatica (https://buff.ly/3E4WqkR)

🚨 This blog is an update on the DEA telemedicine controlled substance prescribing flexibilities, with links on how you can help the effort. Please read and re-share to SPREAD THE WORD. 🚨 With insufficient time before the end of the year to enact a special registration rule, the only path forward to avoid the Telehealth Cliff is to extend the flexibilities further. This will allow time for the DEA to draft a new proposed rule (ideally doing so in collaboration with a taskforce comprised of practicing clinicians and industry stakeholders). Without an extension, the flexibilities that have increased access to health care for individuals in rural and underserved communities over the past four years will disappear after December 31, 2024, and thousands of patients will lose access to critical medications. #telemedicine #telehealth #digitalhealth #DEA #HLTH American Telemedicine Association ATA Action Alliance for Connected Care CTeL Center for Connected Health Policy Foley & Lardner LLP Scott Brinks Marika Miller Kyle Zebley Joanna Strober Krista Drobac
