It was three o'clock in the morning and so many things were going wrong for this patient.😩 We made the call to the family But we couldn't get ahold of them. The documentation was old and couldn't be used... So… this patient gets transferred to the emergency room. She gets intubated because of a decreased level of consciousness. Three days later, we move towards comfort measures but at the same time, we’ve put the patient through a lot of suffering. We’ve put some distress on the family. Additionally, our care teams have experienced moral distress For taking care of somebody who doesn't even want that level of care And the associated costs with that admission are through the roof. All these steps were revealing to me that ↙ WE. NEED. TO. DO. MORE. We need to pivot and improve our healthcare system as a whole. So how do we do that? I'm asking you. What do we do to improve this? Because if it isn't obvious through examples like this... This sh*t isn't working like it should. If you agree... Hit that repost button. ♻️ #healthcare #medicine #health #leadership #publicspeaking

Ever Wondered Who Speaks for You When You Can't? Imagine: It's a beautiful spring day, but you're in a hospital bed, unable to communicate your wishes. What kind of care would you want to receive? This scenario, while hopefully distant, highlights the importance of National Healthcare Decisions Day, observed on April 16th. This day serves as a powerful reminder to take control of your future healthcare by creating a care plan in advance. How did this concept begin? The roots of ‘advance care planning’ trace back to the Karen Ann Quinlan case in the 1970s. This landmark legal battle raised crucial questions about patient autonomy and the right to refuse treatment. Today, Advance-Care-Plans are a cornerstone of patient-centered care. These documents allow you to: 1. Specify your wishes for medical treatment – Do you want CPR or life support? 2. Appoint a healthcare proxy – This trusted person will make medical decisions on your behalf if you can't. 3. Gift peace of mind to loved ones – By clearly outlining your wishes, you can spare your family from difficult choices during a stressful time. National Healthcare Decisions Day is your chance to take action! It's easier than you think to create an advance care plan. Many online resources and local healthcare organizations can guide you through the process. Few mistakes you make when you visit the hospital.... I'm sure you make one or more of these mistakes... 1️⃣ Not Asking Questions: Being hesitant to ask questions about your diagnosis, treatment plan, or medications can leave you feeling unsure and uninformed about your healthcare. So please ask questions, your healthcare providers are ready to answer your questions. 2️⃣ Not Being Honest About Symptoms: Hiding symptoms from your healthcare providers can hinder accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. So it's more like you being the source of your own problem. 3️⃣ Not Following Instructions: I see this a lot .. Ignoring or not following post-care instructions, medication schedules, or meal guidelines can impact recovery and treatment effectiveness. 4️⃣ Not speaking for Yourself: The best way you can help yourself in the presence of your doctor is when you speak up. Not speaking up about concerns, preferences, or doubts during consultations can affect the quality of care you receive. 5️⃣ Not Seeking Second Opinions: There's no sin in you seeking for another opinion.. Accepting a single option about your diagnosis and treatment without seeking a second opinion can limit your understanding of available options. ✨ By being aware of these common mistakes and actively engaging in your healthcare journey... You can make the most out of your hospital visits and ensure better outcomes for your health. ✨ Don't forget your HEALTH is your WEALTH... 🌠 Which of the mistakes do you do often ? Do you have additional mistakes ? Do let us know in the comment section . 📷: One of my Sundays while in camp ...

It's National Healthcare Decisions Day, and it's time to have a heart-to-heart about something important: choosing the right people to make healthcare decisions for you if you can't. Here are essential questions to ponder when choosing healthcare agents: 1️⃣ Who do you trust to make decisions on your behalf when you can't? Choose someone who understands your values and preferences. 2️⃣ What medical treatments align with your wishes? Be clear about procedures you want or don't want, ensuring your care reflects your beliefs and goals. 3️⃣ What are your end-of-life preferences? Consider factors such as life support and hospice care to ensure your wishes are honored. 4️⃣ What messages do you want to convey to your loved ones? Share your thoughts, feelings, and hopes to ease their burden during difficult times. 5️⃣ How do you want your healthcare decisions to align with your religious or spiritual beliefs? Ensure your care plan respects your faith and values, providing comfort and guidance during challenging times. Save this for later and share it with someone dear! 💙 If you or someone you know hasn't made healthcare decisions and wants to know more, schedule a FREE 15-minute call with us to get started! . . . #healthcare #healthcaredecisions #healthcaredecisionsday #estateplan #estateplanning #estateplanningattorney

🛑 Struggling to Get Patients and Clients to Say YES to Treatment? 🛑 It might not be about your services—it’s about meeting them where they’re at. 💡 As healthcare professionals, we often offer comprehensive care right off the bat, but what if your patients aren’t ready for that level of care? We need to align with their current needs before guiding them to the next step. In a recent training, I talked about the 4 levels of care every patient falls into: 1. Emergency – They’re in pain and just want immediate relief. 🆘 2. Restorative – They want to fix what’s broken and maintain their current health. 🛠️ 3. Preventative – They’re focused on staying ahead of health issues and avoiding future problems. 🛡️ 4. Comprehensive – They want the full package—total health and wellness. 🌟 If you're pushing comprehensive care on someone who just wants emergency relief, you’re never going to connect. 🤝 This is where objections and disconnects happen. Patients will tune out because they feel overwhelmed or unheard. ✨ The Key? ASK your patients what level of care they’re looking for. When you include them in the decision-making process, they feel in control, and it eliminates most objections. Get on the same page, and you’ll build trust from the very beginning. For example, you might ask, "Are you looking for emergency care to get out of pain, or would you like a long-term plan for better health?" This simple question changes everything! 🎯 When you respect their current needs, they’ll be more open to other options down the road. I’ve created a roadmap that walks you through this process in detail. Want to get your hands on it? Just comment "ROADMAP" below or DM me, and I’ll send it over—no strings attached! Let’s get your patients saying YES with confidence. 🌟 #PatientCare #HealthcareMarketing #HealthcareSuccess #PrivatePracticeGrowth #PatientTrust
