Today, we commemorate the Day of Reconciliation, a significant day in South Africa. Today symbolizes our nation's journey towards unity and healing, bridging the divides of our past. The Day of Reconciliation was established in 1994, following the end of apartheid, to foster reconciliation and national unity. It serves as a reminder of the importance of understanding, tolerance, and mutual respect among all South Africans. As we reflect on today, let us remember the sacrifices made for our freedom and the ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive and equitable society. May we continue to strive for reconciliation in our daily lives, embracing the values of peace, justice, and solidarity. #DayOfReconciliation #SouthAfrica #Unity #Diversity #Peace #ubuntu

As we approach the African Day of Peace and Reconciliation on 31 January, We reflect on the impact of peace and reconciliation within our continent. Like any diverse landscape, we Africans face our fair share of challenges. Serious conflict, division, and misunderstanding are unfortunately part of our histories. Yet, through reconciliation, we have the potential to transform these challenges into pathways for growth, unity, and shared experience and prosperity. Peace is the foundation of any flourishing society. For Africa, where our cultures are interwoven with centuries of rich traditions and often painful political histories, the act of reconciliation goes beyond merely resolving disputes. Our reconciliation becomes about healing, understanding, and building bridges to unify communities that have been divided by various forms of strife. By fostering reconciliation, we pave the way for a more unified continent—one that not only acknowledges its diverse narratives but also celebrates them. Through peace and reconciliation, we can build environments where creativity thrives, where businesses can grow, and where communities can collaborate for meaningful social impact. This alignment of peace and progress underscores the importance of this commemorative day. It is a reminder that unity is not only desirable but also necessary for sustainable development in Africa. #PeaceAndReconciliation #AfricanUnity #SustainableGrowth #Day8ightCreativeLab #CreativityForChange

Honouring the Day of Reconciliation Today, South Africa observes the Day of Reconciliation, a day deeply rooted in our nation’s history and a cornerstone of our democratic journey. This public holiday was introduced in 1995 to foster unity and healing in a country once divided by apartheid. The date, 16 December, holds historical significance for multiple communities: ▪️ For Afrikaners, it marks the anniversary of the Battle of Blood River in 1838, where the Voortrekkers pledged a vow to God and secured victory. ▪️ For liberation movements, it honours Umkhonto we Sizwe’s founding in 1961, the armed wing of the ANC, which symbolised the fight against oppression. The Day of Reconciliation serves as a reminder of our progress toward a more inclusive and united South Africa. It encourages us to reflect on our shared past and embrace a future where reconciliation and respect guide us forward. As we celebrate this day, let us continue to nurture the values of understanding, compassion, and unity that bring us closer as a nation. 🌟 #DayOfReconciliation #SouthAfrica

Rude awakening ...non!?🙄 Africa is too fractured and fragmented to envision solidarity and unity. The damages are too vast and deep, too multi-generational, such that the people won't know where to begin their patchworks. It's classic case of blurred psychological manipulation through subjugation and marginalization such that friends and foes are now indistinguishable. Yeah, "shaping the international system around a nation's foreign interests" is easier for those who created and control the tools for cross-border engagement and commerce. But only Africans can be manipulated/coerced to act against their own interests. Movements of Africans is the most restricted globally. According to available data, only a small percentage of Africans travel abroad annually, estimated to be around 0.05% of the continent's population, which translates to roughly 0.44 million emigrants per year, which is significantly lower compared to the continent's population growth rate of around 2.6%. Also, Africa registers the lowest overall migration. Only about 3% of the African population lives outside their home country, compared to higher rates in other continents like Europe. Something impossible to correlate if we rely on press reports.😲🙄 Btw, speaking about movements, add the financial windfall/bonanza from high hard currency ONLY non-refundable visa applications levied on the most impoverished countries/population, knowing fully well, in advance, that majority of the applicants will be rejected because they haven't met, and can never meet, the requirements. Nothing comes closer to printing money, pure diplomatic banditory, for some countries high commissions. But then the locals keep applying knowing they didn't and can't meet the baseline requirements stipulated on the visa application websites. And embassies are left with little choice but to keep taking their hard earned money and rejecting the applicants. Now, that's some foreign aid, international aid, the locals subsidizing foreign embassies with their governments utterly disengaged.🤔😖😭🤦♂️🤷♂️🙄 The White House, US Congress, United States Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Department of State, United States Department of Defense, European Union, United Nations, African Union, The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), APEC - Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

What really baffles me as an African! Why are we still upholding the neo-colonial tentacles that were put in place to work against Africa and Africans? 🤔 We have so many smart Africans on this platform, please make it make sense. The Congo Conference borders were deliberately drawn for exactly what's happening now. Others plan Africa's future *without* Africans. 🤔 How long will we adhere to colonial systems? When will we unite & build our own uncompromising Afro-centric solutions? 💪🏾✊🏾 It's up to us! Malcolm X said, "by any means necessary." Will we rise, or remain conquered? The Motherland deserves her rightful place. 👑🌍 Let's unite, this is the biggest challenge facing Africa today. They created the false borders, now we're all calling ourselves the names of countries our colonizers created for us. Can you all see what I see 👀😏🤔 The physical, mental and psychological borders needs to come down. Until we remove the borders mentally, physically and spiritually we will never fully be whom we are meant to be. Decolonizing the Mind from Eurocentric Domination: 5 Key Steps Decolonizing the mind from Eurocentric domination is a profound and ongoing process. Here are five imperative determinants to enhance this journey: 1.) Education Learn about the history, cultures, and philosophies of non-European societies. This includes reading works by authors from diverse backgrounds and studying indigenous knowledge systems. 2.) Critical Thinking Question and critically analyze the narratives and assumptions that have been shaped by Eurocentric perspectives. This involves recognizing biases in media, literature, and education. 3.) Cultural Immersion Engage with and appreciate the arts, languages, and traditions of different cultures. This can help broaden your perspective and foster a deeper understanding of the world. 4.) Community Engagement Participate in discussions and activities that promote cultural diversity and inclusivity. This can include joining groups or organizations that focus on decolonization and social justice. 5.) Self-Reflection Reflect on your own beliefs and attitudes. Consider how they may have been influenced by Eurocentric views and work towards embracing a more inclusive and diverse mindset. It's a journey that requires patience, openness, and a willingness to learn and unlearn.

Africa needs it's own systems. We need Afrocentrism, Afro-Centricity in motion in Africa. We need our self identity, we need to self love. We need to embrace our true identity as Africans. It's definitely not meant to be in the West or the East. It's meant to be African. We are the oldest civilization on earth. Embrace it and be proud of it and let's be ourselves. #Oladelesthoughts
