If we can transcend partisanship in politics, Africa will shine with pride. Imagine an Africa where equity reigns supreme and community spirit flourishes. A place where supporting one another, regardless of religious or political affiliation, is fundamental. In this united Africa, we will make significant strides, becoming a beacon of unity on the global stage. Embracing our diversity, we'll find strength in peace and unity. I firmly believe in Africa and its vibrant youth. Our continent offers boundless possibilities and opportunities for all. As we celebrate AU Day yesterday, let's not just adorn ourselves in African prints but embody the spirit of unity in our actions and interactions. It's time to move beyond rhetoric and truly embody the ideals of Africa Day. #chestersl #writer #africayouth #iloveafrica #TranscendPartisanship #UnitedAfrica #EquityForAll #CommunitySpirit #StrengthInUnity #AfricaPride #YouthEmpowerment #AUday #CelebrateDiversity #EmbraceUnity #AfricanSpirit #BeyondRhetoric

Here are some talking points from today’s broadcast of A New Day Conversation with Dr. Patrick Burrowes about his book "Liberia & the Quest for Freedom (The Half That's Never Been Told)": 1. We discussed the trans-Atlantic slave trade's legacy and how it’s legacy continues to impact Liberia’s society and culture today, mainly through unresolved trauma and social divisions. - We discussed the danger of denying or suppressing historical traumas and how doing so impacts Liberia’s ability to heal and create an equitable society. 2. Liberia’s Unique Role in African Diaspora History: - Dr. Burrowes highlighted Liberia’s foundational narrative as a homeland for repatriated Africans from the Americas and how this distinct history shaped the country's identity. 3. Enduring Divisions and Labels: - Dr. Burrowes talked about the use of terms like “Gio,” “Belle,” and “ex-slaves” as a reflection of the societal divisions rooted in colonialism and slavery. 4. Reconciliation and the Path to Peace: - He emphasized the importance of learning from the first generation of Liberians—indigenous and repatriates—who worked together to build a unified nation. https://lnkd.in/gKMUhJGB

A time to change
Passionate about seeing the Alkebulan of my dream emerge. I am unapologetically African. We are building the Emerging Alkebulan. Titles don't matter. Disrupting the status quo. Thought provoker. Pan African to the core.
What really baffles me as an African! Why are we still upholding the neo-colonial tentacles that were put in place to work against Africa and Africans? 🤔 We have so many smart Africans on this platform, please make it make sense. The Congo Conference borders were deliberately drawn for exactly what's happening now. Others plan Africa's future *without* Africans. 🤔 How long will we adhere to colonial systems? When will we unite & build our own uncompromising Afro-centric solutions? 💪🏾✊🏾 It's up to us! Malcolm X said, "by any means necessary." Will we rise, or remain conquered? The Motherland deserves her rightful place. 👑🌍 Let's unite, this is the biggest challenge facing Africa today. They created the false borders, now we're all calling ourselves the names of countries our colonizers created for us. Can you all see what I see 👀😏🤔 The physical, mental and psychological borders needs to come down. Until we remove the borders mentally, physically and spiritually we will never fully be whom we are meant to be. Great insight by @Vusi Thembekwayo #Unity #Africa #Africans #Future #Independence #Sovereignty #Revolution #Change #Hope #Progress #Oladelesthoughts

Here what South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa had to say today in his address at the UNGA79. ‘We won’t be silent as apartheid is perpetrated against others’ “The South African story bears witness to the enduring role of the United Nations in global matters. In supporting our struggle, the #UN affirmed the principles of the UN Charter – fundamental human rights, the dignity and worth of every person, and the equal rights of nations large and small.” With his country’s historic struggle to secure a flourishing democracy in mind, President Ramaphosa emphasized: “We South Africans know what apartheid looks like [and] we will not remain silent and watch as apartheid is perpetrated against others” in #Gaza as #Israel continues its collective punishment of the #Palestinians. He called for a collective effort through the UN system and other multinational institutions to end civilian suffering and for #SouthAfrica's legal action taken against Israel through the #InternationalCourtofJustice (ICJ) to prevail. “The only lasting solution is the establishment of a Palestinian State that will exist side by side with Israel with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he stressed. On other issues, he said every effort must be taken to bring peace to the #DRCongo, #Sudan, #Yemen, #Ukraine and the #Sahel region, but that all requires a truly representative and inclusive Security Council. “The Security Council must be reformed as a matter of urgency. It must become more inclusive so that the voices of all nations can be heard and considered.” He added that, "Africa stands ready to play its role in building a safer global order by participating in the work of the #UNSecurityCouncil on the basis of respect and acceptance.” President Ramaphosa said as part of the search for a safer world order, there must be greater cooperation between the UN and the #AfricanUnion to resolve the root causes of #wars on the #continent. 🔗Access the recording and transcript of the statement here: https://lnkd.in/eCG5BV2z #NotTheWorldWeWant #GlobalAfrica #UNSC #UnitedNations #Peace #UNGA79 #OneWorld #NoToGenocide #NoToWars #Africa #UN #UNGA #Diaspora #AU

Cyril is right! What has the UN done to protect its own charter. Fundamental human rights, dignity and worth for all humans, equal rights for all humans, seems like a utopian fantasy at this point. It's hard to address the rising genocidal body count, ethnic cleansing and continued sponsoring of war fare without acknowledging the unclaimed resources in these conflicted areas. It's too simplistic to say that the continued collective punishment is simply about history, ethnicity, race and religion when the numbers say otherwise. 4.5 Bn USD of natural gas reserves off the coast of Palestine... 24 Tn USD untapped natural resources in the DRC... 1 million tons of Chromium deposits in Sudan... 15 Bn USD annual output of natural resources in Ukraine...
