DIRTY COIN: THE BITCOIN MINING DOCUMENTARY reposted this
The #Bitcoin hashrate has surpassed 800k Exahash. It is the most powerful computing network the human race has ever seen. If every government, university, and corporation on the planet with super computers combined their processing power, it would still have to 10,000x to be the equivalent of the computer power securing the worlds most pristine asset.
Mind-blowing perspective on Bitcoin's network strength. The sheer scale of 800k Exahash shows how far we've come from the early days. This isn't just about computing power - it's about creating the most secure, decentralized network in human history. #Bitcoin
Do people even understand what this means??
A study from the university of Singapore and the ETH Zurich showed that the resource consumption that is needed to produce Bitcoin minig hardware is projected to be extremely harmful for our planet‘s ecosystem. Other digital currencies do not create that problem.
The world’s most power draining asset. Wasting tons and tons of electricity on solving increasingly complex riddles is not the way to save the planet.
That is misleading to talk about computing power as there were ordinary computers working. That‘s not the case. You cannot utilitise the computing power for anything else but create hashes.
The sheer vastness of the underpinning infrastructure is the most remarkable aspect of the the asset. complete engineered capital driven by mathematics, distributed electricity and compute. Free from political influence, policy control and the constraints of traditional market dynamics. A computer science, political science and economic science wonder..

Sorry this is a really easy problem to fix. In CA they have pricing based on consumption - the higher the consumption the higher the price per kW. When they recieve a huge bill each month this issue goes away on its own.

1wGreed, shown in numbers. Btw. it‘s a waste of computing power. Even if you like the idea of blockchains to secure assets, you must agree that you could do the same with a fraction of the energy consumption involved. Countless projects have demonstrated it. But well, humans…
