🚨 Port Blair to Be Renamed as Sri Vijaya Puram: Embracing India's Historical Legacy🚨 In a significant move towards reclaiming India's cultural heritage, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently announced that Port Blair will be renamed Sri Vijaya Puram, honoring the rich history of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This change reflects India’s ongoing efforts to break free from colonial imprints and celebrate its historical roots, especially the Chola Empire’s influence and the islands' role in the freedom struggle. The name Sri Vijaya Puram is significant because it represents victory and strength, two concepts that resonate deeply with India's journey to independence. The name is inspired by the Sanskrit word ‘Vijaya,’ meaning victory, symbolizing not only the island's historical triumphs but also India’s fight for freedom. 🏛 Key Highlights: - Honoring the Chola Empire's naval legacy. - Celebrating Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his historic flag hoisting in 1943. - Recognizing the brutal sacrifices of freedom fighters at the Cellular Jail. - Reinforcing the island's modern strategic importance for India's defense. 🔗 Curious to know more about the historical and strategic significance of this renaming? Greece's historical legacy, strategic location in the Mediterranean, extensive fleet ownership, robust maritime infrastructure, and supportive regulatory environment collectively contribute to its importance in the global maritime, shipping, and bunkering industry. Thus, Peninsula has been active in Athens since 2005. On March 25th, the Greeks celebrate their Independence Day. This day commemorates the start of the war of Independence in 1821 against the Ottoman Empire, which ultimately led to the establishment of modern Greece as an independent state. Haris Koulouris, a fellow colleague from our office in Athens, highlighted this is one of the most, if not the most, important national holidays in Greece, marked by various ceremonies, parades, and cultural events across the country. Greek Independence Day parades have military and civilian participation; and there are also flag-raising ceremonies, and special church services on the 25th March every year. Haris said many Greeks wear traditional costumes, especially children, and decorate streets with flags and banners. Additionally, cultural events such as concerts and exhibitions are common, along with family gatherings featuring traditional dishes. Haris described one that is delicious: bakaliaros and skordalia, which is salted cod accompanied with a garlic dipping sauce. The 25th March is an occasion for Greeks to come together every year to celebrate their history, culture, and national identity, as well as to honour the heroes who fought for their country's freedom. Haris is looking forward to spending this day with his family and watching the fireworks displays to end the day. #oneglobalteam #energyflowing #Greece #Mediterranean #fleet #maritime #regulatory #globalshipping #bunkering #Athens #bakaliaros #skordalia #Greek

The Anglo-Zanzibar War is the shortest recorded war in history. It occurred when the United Kingdom declared war on the Sultanate of Zanzibar on August 27, 1896. The reasons were the sudden death of Sultan Hamad bin Thuwaini and his succession by Sultan Khalid bin Barghash, whom the British opposed. The British forces immediately launched into action and regained control. British forces rapidly bombarded the palace. The Sultan's side was grossly outnumbered and outgunned. After less than an hour, the Sultan's forces would not be able to fight back and surrender. All of this war became a historical landmark because it clearly distinguished the powers of colonial superpowers from the minor powers during those times. One very good example of this scenario is that of the Anglo-Zanzibar War. How easily can the power play between countries in their political spectrum change into a war with intense fervor but at the same time quite short? . . . #ShortestWar #AngloZanzibarWar #HistoryFacts #BritishEmpire #Zanzibar #ColonialHistory #MilitaryHistory #QuickWar #19thCenturyWars #SultanKhalid #UKHistory #ConflictResolution #WorldHistory #HistoricalWars #WarRecords #Tribunetrends

Moroccan monarchy Morocco is the constitutional monarchy. Current Alawi (or Alaouite) dynasty is the second oldest rulling in the world, after Yamato in Japan. King Mohammed VI is celebrating 25th anniversary of accession to the throne, which is a nice pretext to summarize his rules by various observers and institutes. And they are very positive; the Monarch has contributed to political, social and economic development of the country. Because of the Morocco’s stability it has become a good place to do business which our company is a good example of. Monarchy is sometimes described as something anachronic, unnecessary for our modern times. Still queen or king has a role to play: we’ve seen it in Spain in 1970s, we’ve seen it in Brittain, and we see it now in Morocco. In addition to the legislative, executive and judicial powers there is a fourth power that can act as a stabilizing agent or lever for changes. Maybe that is one of the reasons Mohammed VI enjoys great respect in Morocco.
