We must all do our part to create the future we want! 🌏🌎🌍🌱 “Dream! Hack! Build!” by Ann Molin and Co authors; Love Dager, ✪ Carolina Emanuelson, Mustafa Sherif and Dr, Kristofer Vernmark is a comprehensive guide that reimagines the hackathon concept, positioning it as a powerful tool for citizen-driven innovation. The book is structured into three main parts: “Dream,” which focuses on identifying and defining challenges; “Hack,” which explores the organization and execution of impactful hackathons; and “Build,” which details how to transform hackathon outcomes into sustainable, real-world solutions. Ann Molin emphasizes the importance of aligning hackathons with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting a method that is not just about short-term innovation but about creating lasting impact. The book offers practical advice on every stage of the hackathon process, from setting the right challenge to managing teams, fostering partnerships, and ensuring effective communication. It also discusses the importance of inclusivity, diversity, and psychological safety in hackathon environments, aiming to create a space where innovation can thrive. The “Build” section is particularly focused on how to take the ideas generated during hackathons and turn them into viable, scalable products or initiatives, highlighting the role of acceleration programs in this process. Ann Molin draws on her experience with initiatives like Hack for Sweden and Build for Earth, providing real-world examples and case studies that illustrate the effectiveness of her approach. The book serves as both a manual for organizers and a manifesto for those looking to harness the power of collaborative innovation to address global challenges. It’s an essential read for anyone interested in the intersection of technology, innovation, and social impact. I’am extremely grateful to be able to work with these talanted individuals and teams to push innovation forward one hackathon at a time! 💚 Today the book will be launched at The Park Forskaren in Stockholm! Hello, GreenSphere is an eco-club, so it’s not related to technology at all. Nature has its own set of problems, and you might wonder what an engineer can do about it. That’s usually the work of environmentalists, right? Well, as the Vice President of GreenSphere, I, had the privilege to decide on activities for the club. Ananya Bhardwaj, Arshiya Gedam and Aakriti K , Our core team and I decided to organize a hackathon, and we approached it pretty casually at first. Our team had around 70 members, but only a few were really passionate and active. We believed in those dedicated members and got started. We planned the event for May 24th to 26th. After many meetings, we finalized the timeline and elements of the hackathon. But we didn’t have a sponsorship team, and starting recruitment at that point was useless. So, I teamed up with some amazing juniors Diya Arora, @ishita Manharsia to find companies, send emails, and wait for replies. A few responded, and we accepted small sponsorships with big deliverables on our side. Satyam Kumar Satyam Kumar, who’s great at getting sponsorships, guided me, but we only had two days left. I started calling sponsors; some didn’t respond or avoided calls, but a few replied, and we secured sponsorships from Coding Ninjas, Devfolio, .xyz, Rise In, and more. We received 500+ applications on Devfolio, built a community, and informed participants about the rounds: Aptitude, Ideation, Development, and Final Presentation. We also selected mentors, judges, and speakers who applied for these positions and held meetings with them. Trust me, it sounds easy, but it’s not. However, it’s truly satisfying. When the hackathon started, we motivated our team and ourselves. We needed it because we were representing our college across India, and thoughts like “What if we don’t meet expectations?” kept popping up. To make our hackathon stand out, we worked tirelessly, sleeping only 2-3 hours a night for three days straight. We managed mentoring sessions, speaker sessions, and more than 40 Excel sheets at a time. At one point, my brain just stopped functioning 😂. It wasn’t easy, but it ended with huge success. The process should be adventurous and leave no time to think about failure. It becomes a celebration in itself. First time doing it? It’s okay. No guidance? It’s okay. Small team? It’s okay. What you need is passion. The experience is amazing, and the connections you make are invaluable. You'll learn to be money-conscious, bargain, and convince sponsors. The closing ceremony was awesome. We distributed certificates, prizes, refreshments, and had fun talks with the teams. As a very social and vocal person, I loved every bit of it. Thanks for reading my somewhat chaotic thoughts!

🌍 Thrilled to have been part of the EIT Community Ignite NEB Hackathon this past weekend, where innovation met community to reimagine urban spaces! 🚀 As a designer, I'm passionate about using playful, interactive concepts to transform experiences (and in this case - cities) into more vibrant, inclusive, and safe places. Together with a talented team, we focused on a project to reimagine the Nicosia Municipal Gardens, exploring how lighting, sound, and gamification can make it more engaging and inviting—flipping the narrative that a lack of vibrancy equals a lack of safety. The hackathon was a unique opportunity by CyprusInno, Kimitisik, SocialTech Lab and EIT Urban Mobility. It brought together incredible thinkers across disciplines to address how urban spaces can be better utilized for community benefit, sustainability, and public interaction. It was inspiring to see so many people coming together with ideas to transform urban challenges into possibilities for a greener, more connected future. Participating in the hackathon reminded me of the power of playful urban innovation—not only to engage communities but also to foster sustainable change. I’m excited to continue working towards a future where cities are living, breathing ecosystems that make people feel connected, safe, and inspired. 💡 Here’s to designing spaces that bring joy and meaning to city life! #UrbanInnovation #Hackathon #PlayfulCities #SustainableCities #Nicosia

I recently got back from Zebu Live - London Web3 Conferencer where I ran a workshop in the Degen Den. There were a few standout moments I’d like to share: 1️⃣ Builders are driving real progress: It’s easy to get caught up in the negative headlines, but the real story is with the people building. Seeing firsthand what’s happening on the ground, it’s clear that Web3 is making strides—and it’s not going anywhere. 2️⃣ Collaboration is everything: The sense of community was strong. Everyone I met was genuinely focused on how we can push this space forward together. There’s a shared understanding that we’re building something bigger than any one project. 3️⃣ Challenges are part of the process: No surprise—Web3 comes with its fair share of hurdles. From tech complexity to adoption struggles, there’s a lot to navigate. But it’s exactly these challenges that are pushing innovation. 4️⃣ The shift is happening now: It’s not just about tech anymore. It’s about rethinking how we engage communities, create impact, and deliver value. Web3 is redefining how we do business, and it feels like we’re at a pivotal moment. All in all, Zebu Live was a reminder of how far we’ve come—and how much further we can go. Exciting times ahead! Want to make sure your Web3 brand is on the right path? Proof of Work Studio is offering a free website audit to give you actionable insights. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/guMMSS5Y #ZebuLive2024 #Web3

One month ago I had the privilege of participating in the EU Sparks for Climate Madrid Hackathon, where we utilized the Design Thinking methodology to tackle some of the most pressing climate challenges. With all the hustle of the end of the academic course I didn’t have time to announce that my teamates Javier Rodríguez Pascual, Zeliha ŞAHİN ÇAĞLI and I, with and our mentor Julián Rodríguez emerged victorious! 🌱🏆 This journey was incredibly enriching and taught us the true power of collaboration and innovation. Working alongside passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds, we were able to combine our unique perspectives and skills to create impactful solutions for our planet. I want to extend a huge thank you to all the participants who brought their energy, creativity, and dedication to the table. Your hard work and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. A heartfelt thank you to the jury (Irene Rodríguez Sánchez, Pedro Salazar Díaz-Marta, Verónica G. Javier Martín Sanz and Lorenza Moreno) for recognizing our efforts and for their invaluable feedback and guidance throughout the competition. Your insights have been instrumental in shaping our project and pushing us to strive for excellence. Last but not least, an enormous thank you to my great friend and now kind of personal mentor, Laura Álvarez Carrillo for encouraging me to apply to the Hackaton 💜🌍 A big thank you to the EU for organizing and supporting this incredible initiative. This opportunity has not only provided us with a platform to innovate but also to learn and grow as professionals committed to making a difference. Looking forward to the next steps! #ClimateAction #EUSparks #Hackathon #DesignThinking #Innovation #ClimateChange #Sustainability #EUClimateInitiative

✨MY FIRST HACKATON EXPERIENCE : LOCAL ENERGIX ✨ Last weekend , I had the incredible opportunity to participate in my first-ever hackathon: the local energix organized by sustainabuilding UM6P Club in collaboration with Student Organizations, Leadership and Engagement (SOLE) - UM6P and Maghreb Steel . The challenge? To propose innovative ideas to make houses greener, smarter, and more sustainable. What made this experience truly unforgettable wasn’t just the project (which had its ups and downs) but everything surrounding it. The preparation kicked off with an inspiring seminar by industry experts at 2 PM, setting the stage for the real challenge, which began at 5 PM. From that point on, it was a nonstop rollercoaster of brainstorming, prototyping, simulations, and teamwork. ✨ Highlights of the Hackathon: - Staying awake for more than 30 hours straight - a first for me as someone who values a healthy routine! - Surviving on over 7 espressos and 2 energy drinks to fight off sleep. - Working in pajamas and blankets, making the best of a cozy yet intense environment. - Collaborating with an amazing team under pressure, sharing ideas, and learning together. - Immersing myself in the dynamic ambiance, where creativity and problem-solving thrived. While I didn’t walk away with a win, I left with something far more valuable: a deep appreciation for the process, countless lessons, and an unforgettable experience. Hackathons test your limits, push you to think critically, and remind you of the power of teamwork and resilience. I’m so grateful to have been part of this journey, and I can’t wait to take on more challenges like this in the future! Thank you sustainabuilding UM6P for this event !! #Hackathon #Sustainability #Teamwork #Resilience #Growth
