🎙️ ICYMI: Shortlist Professionals CEO, Paul Breloff, recently sat down with FSD Africa's Kaara Wainaina, to talk about Shortlist Futures, FSD Africa and Boston Consulting Group (BCG)'s new report on green jobs in Africa. The continent is rich both in natural and human resources. And that’s exactly why we’re here—committed to unlocking this potential and making an impact right now. Watch the full video↓
We recently partnered with Shortlist Professionals and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to undertake a study on “Forecasting Green Jobs in Africa”. This was informed by our firm belief in a green future and growth as the best route offering Africa a firm, sustainable and prosperous future. #Africa has extensive natural resources including great renewable energy potential, which well exploited can translate into strong economic growth and well-being for people and the planet. Human capital, a great enabler and result of this green growth however tends to be overlooked in this conversation hence this study. Our Acting Communications Director Kaara Wainaina sat down with Shortlist Professionals CEO Paul Breloff to unpack the report and to understand the emerging labour demand that is projected to create at least 3 million green direct jobs over the next five years. 🔗Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/deMki9gK -- #MakingFinanceWork #GreenJobs #Sustainability -- Kevin Munjal, Arthur Ndegwa, Banu Khan, Frank Maimu, Ryan Mwanzui, Janine Ampulire Mwesigye, Wanjiru Kamau, Brenda Cheyech, Eva Njoroge, Ciara Marie Remerscheid, Shortlist Futures.

I've been digesting this interesting report by FSD Africa, and Shortlist Professionals supported by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) which reveals Africa's immense opportunities for green job creation by 2030! With an estimated 3 million direct jobs in 12 key sub-sectors, the #cleanenergy sector and #energytransition can drive the continent's #sustainabledevelopment. But that's not all - the potential for job creation extends far beyond 2030 up to 2050 & onwards, with vast opportunities in related sub-sectors waiting to be tapped. To realize this potential, we need intentional policy support, investment in training and training centers, strategic investments, and much more. Let's take this moment to reflect on our individual and collective efforts in the industry. How can we redirect our efforts to unlock Africa's green job potential? I'll be considering how some of the demand led policy support and technical assistance for capacity building we've been supporting on the continent can be better tailored to support more #greenjobs. Australian Offshore Solutions was excited to sponsor the 2024 Energy Club WA Indigenous Business Networking Forum last fortnight . In line with our new D&I Strategy, our commitment to diversity extends to all aspects of our operation, promoting opportunities across Race and Ethnicity, Age and Gender and fostering a culture of belonging and innovation. This event aligns with our internal ambitions by connecting industry peers and guests with both local and national Indigenous businesses and suppliers. A Welcome to Country set the tone for engagement and MC @kate Macoboy shared the below thoughts: Be Agile – creating inclusion doesn’t mean making everyone fit within your framework, it means creating a framework where everyone can participate and thrive. Be Active – taking action is sometimes the hardest part, I understand it can be a process, from both sides, but open communication and clear expectations can help both sides to remain on the path to action. Be Accountable – everyone in a relationship has responsibilities for making it work, in life or in business. If you say you’re going to do something then do it, don’t overpromise and be clear on what you are trying to achieve. #inclusionmatters #indigenousbusinesses #procurementdiversity

The ranking: Africa's Fastest Growing Companies 2024 List of 50 includes many businesses that have overcome the Covid pandemic and the continent’s economic problems The third year of our now expanded ranking of Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies (below) comes against a background in which many economies are struggling to recover from the Covid pandemic. Economic growth in Africa, overall, in 2023 was 3.2 per cent, according to the International Monetary Fund — lower than in Asia, which grew at nearly 5 per cent. And, given the African continent’s fast population expansion, this underperformance is even starker in per capita terms. Rather than closing the gap with wealthier regions, on aggregate, Africa is falling further behind. https://lnkd.in/eangXGmY #africa #africaeconomy #companylisting
