While Christians around the world observe Easter in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, it may be interesting to know that the day originated as an ancient pagan celebration of the spring equinox. Today’s Easter traditions are a blend of Christian themes and ancient pagan celebrations. In the Church are there different ways of praying? In the Church there are various ways of praying that are tied to different historical, social and cultural contexts. The Magisterium of the Church has the task of discerning the fidelity of these way of praying to the tradition of apostolic faith. PRAYER FOR SUCCESS: Father, The mandate of the mission supersedes the finiteness of linear time. I live in a temporary world, but I operate within an eternal agenda. The temporariness of this world will not prohibit me from fulfilling an eternal mandate that exceeds my existence in the earth realm. How do we attain beatitude? We attain beatitude by virtue of the grace of Christ which makes us participants in the divine life. Christ in the Gospel points out to his followers the way that leads to eternal happiness: the beatitudes. The grace of Christ also is operative in every person who, following a correct conscience, seeks and loves the true and the good and avoids evil.      Further reading: CCC 1716
