Our football boot recycling scheme has been up and running for about a year now, and we’re still celebrating every pair that gets sent in by a new customer. One more pair kept out of landfill, and one more sustainable action completed by a football fan. We’re in the middle of an audit to get an idea of what we have, and so far, there’s an interesting mix of brands, styles, and conditions (plus the odd rugby boot). But the question that’s niggling away is, should we send all of these boots to be shredded down and turned into new products or do we find ways to extend their lifecycle? Sending them off to be recycled would definitely be easier and a lot less hassle but not necessarily the right thing to do. We’re taking a little extra time to evaluate what we’ve got. So for now, play is being held up and it’s gone to VAR. Results are coming soon. #football #recycling #reuse #circulareconomy
