PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING ENGINEERING Engineering is super vast as previously introduced, But I'll restrict my post on other fields then try to converge on my field and then give my internship experience throughout this series. Production and processing engineering is a constantly evolving field in engineering. It involves the design, development, and optimization of industrial processes to create valuable products from crude (Raw materials) to meet customer needs and specifications. Being a production/processing engineer offers a platform to exercise your creativity and problem-solving abilities by innovating solutions and enhancing existing technologies or materials. If you're passionate about leveraging your creativity to improve the world of processing, turning raw materials into valuable products, then exploring fields such as Chemical/Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mining Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Food Engineering, Production Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering would be beneficial. Opportunities for process engineers spread across various industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, breweries, pharmaceuticals, mining, food packaging, beverages, cosmetics, Soap, perfumes and more. Make sure you do proper research and possibly get a mentor to guide you always. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section! 😊 #Let's_Process_Series_04 #GasProcessing #InternshipExperience #EnergyIndustry #CareerGrowth

As part of my internship at KACST, I developed a comprehensive simulation of the Haber process using ChemCAD. The simulation focused on the conversion of nitrogen and hydrogen into ammonia under high temperature and pressure conditions. I analyzed various parameters, including temperature, pressure, and catalyst efficiency, to optimize the production yield. This experience enhanced my understanding of chemical process design and the practical application of simulation software in lab scale experiments and petrochemical industry.

👨🏼🏫🎓 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲❗ Are you a Master's Student in the chemistry field? Are you passionate about electrochemistry? Or are you eager to apply your scientific knowledge to solve environmental problems? 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: Electrochemical metal recovery from water treatment processes 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥: Define the optimal conditions for the electrowinning process of metallic cations. 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Nijhuis Saur Industries, Doetinchem, the Netherlands The water treatment sector produces tons of waste containing high amounts of metals, which ends up being disposed of without valorised routes. Water boards are therefore looking for efficient waste management solutions by encouraging resource recovery. What if it was possible to reduce the metal consumption in this industry? The complexity of these waste streams hinders the application of the electrochemical processes, mostly due to the wide variety of electron-withdrawing compounds. Because of that, more studies need to be carried out to better understand properly the mechanisms and how to optimize them. Are you ready to help with this? Shaping the Future of Chemical Engineering Education: Insights from Industry Advisory Panel Meetings This week, I had the privilege of sharing ideas at the Industry Advisory Panel meetings for undergraduate and postgraduate Chemical Engineering programs at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS . These discussions highlighted how we can better prepare students for the rapidly evolving demands of the industry. For Undergraduate Programs 1. Integrating AI in Studies Encourage the use of AI in data-heavy projects while ensuring students connect findings with sound theoretical knowledge. Introduce optional masterclasses on AI for final-year students to build practical skills. 2. Enhancing Presentation Skills Shift traditional formats to dynamic ones, such as pitching plant design projects to an "investment board." Develop storytelling and persuasive communication across all presentation-heavy subjects. 3. Expanding Career Horizons Diversify internships beyond the 60% placed with PETRONAS, exposing students to various industries. Maintain UTP’s hallmark internship program as a critical differentiator for graduates. For Postgraduate Programs 1. Focus on Global Megatrends Encourage PhD research in areas like energy transition, carbon capture, sustainability, and digitalization. 2. Industry Collaboration Strengthen partnerships to provide students access to real-world challenges, case studies, and interdisciplinary opportunities. 3. Promoting Innovation and Sustainability Embed these as core themes across postgraduate research to align with global priorities and industry needs. Collaboration between academia and industry is key to equipping the next generation of engineers and researchers with the skills to tackle global challenges. Let’s continue the conversation—what do you think are the critical skills for chemical engineering students today?
