Here is solid print. We often get asked how you would 3D scanner part you've manufactured and then create an inspection report comparing it back to the original CAD file. In the next two minutes, I'll show you just how easily this can be done. So here we're using the free Scan Combo Plus to make a quick scan of our part. It will be accurate within 20 microns, which is ideal for the inspection we want to do, and with the 50 laser lines we will have it scanned in under 30 seconds. You can see I have loaded the scan data into Geomagic Control X along with the original CAD data using the alignment tool. The software automatically lines up the two models and then we can run a 3D comparison between them. This shows a color map of where the scan part deviates from the CAD. The next inspection I want to do is a 2D cross section. This creates an outline of the part wherever I choose and then again shows the deviation so I can add labels onto any key areas I want highlighted in the final report. The last tool I will use in this example is the Smart Dimension tool, which works much the same way as you would measure a part in can't. You can take 2 entities and measure between them. In this example, I want to know the outer dimensions of this slot and maybe the distance between these two holes. And allow us to take the angle of this recess here. Once we've created all the elements we want in our report, we can automatically generate it. We get to choose from our feature tree what's included in the final report, as well as define the part name and details. The full report is automatically generated from the features we've created. For each feature, it shows a visual view as well as a table of all the dimensions taken below it. We can group features together, choose what to include, and adjust any of the views as we wish. This report is now ready to send off to the final customer.
