Globetronics Technology Bhd (KL:GTRONIC) surged as top most-actively-traded stocks on Friday morning, after the company secured a RM145 million contract to provide integrated circuit (IC) product packaging, testing, and backend services to Taiwan-based ChipMOS Technologies Inc.  

Trilegal advised Malaysian public-listed company Globetronics Technology Berhad on a technology provision transaction in the semiconductor sector with Kaynes Semicon Pvt Ltd (a subsidiary of publicly traded corporation, Kaynes Technology India Ltd).   Globetronics Technology Berhad is an integrated contract manufacturer of semiconductor-based products and services. The transaction will enable Kaynes Semicon to set up a centre and supply chain for the development of an outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) business in India. The transaction also involves Globetronics re-investing a portion of the contract value into Kaynes Semicon, subject to customary protections including with respect to exit.   The deal was led by our Corporate Partner, Sanjam Arora. TT Electronics plc rejected a takeover proposal from an unidentified suitor that was higher than a £249m ($315m) proposal - which it also rebuffed - from Volex. Shares in TT Electronics, which makes electrical components, jumped as much as 54% to 121.5 pence on news of the bid interest, while Volex stock was down about 11%.
