Thank you for a very interesting exchange, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Europe! 🏎️ 🏁 Our #AI #experts in aerospace and safety welcomed #racing #experts for a very interesting discussion on the potential of artificial intelligence. ❇️ We were fascinated to learn about the possibilities of AI in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, where engineers checking incoming data from the race car will be assisted by AI to detect anomalies. For our part, researchers from the DLR Institute of Software Technology and the DLR Institut für KI-Sicherheit gave an overview of how anomaly detection is methodologically used for research at Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. in the areas of rocket development and climate change monitoring. Two specific projects provide an insight into our work with AI-based anomaly detection: 🚀 As part of the #ATHEAt project, our institute analyses ground and flight test data of #rockets. The aim is to detect anomalies in order to find and identify faults and problems at an early stage of development. For anomaly detection, we use both density-based algorithms and neural network architectures such as autoencoders or vision transformers. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/erDqWPx3 🌍 The #RESIKOAST project develops strategies for long-term adaptation to changing #climate #conditions in coastal areas of the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Extreme weather events pose an increasing threat to islands and coastal regions due to their intensity, frequency and the possible simultaneous occurrence of several events. Our institute develops and applies AI methods for #early #risk #detection by analysing large Earth observation data sets. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e4zY9rsq The meeting was a great starting point to see the overlap between real-time anomaly detection in racing and anomaly detection in DLR applications. We hope to find out more in future exchanges! ✨
