Meet the cast of Witness for the Prosecution! We asked Matt Henderson some questions about the show: Tell us a little bit about your characters. I play Carter, the very precise no-nonsense chief clerk of the distinguished barrister Sir Wilfrid Robarts. He is always mindful of the weight and power of the Law, and does his best to impress that upon everyone around him. I also play Thomas Clegg, an assistant in the forensic laboratory at New Scotland Yard. Thomas is having his first experience giving testimony in a murder trial, and he can't help but get swept up in the excitement of it all. What are some of the unique challenges that you've encountered during rehearsals? My characters appear in short segments of scenes, but they both have rich inner lives that drive what they say and do during the brief time we see them. It's a fun challenge to find ways to establish those key elements that make them distinct, memorable people within their limited time onstage. Agatha Christie is known as the "Queen of Crime" due to her suspenseful, intricately plotted mysteries. Without giving away any spoilers, what were your thoughts as you encountered the twists and turns of this story for the first time? Just when I thought it couldn't get more wild, it only gets wilder! I thought I had it figured out halfway through, but new twists knocked me for a loop. This is a story that will keep you on your toes up until the very last minute before the lights go down. What's something an audience member should know before they see this play? This is the kind of courtroom drama that makes you feel like you're actually part of the trial. And in fact, you can be - we're inviting audience members to serve as the jury for this murder case and sit in a "jury box" right next to the stage. I highly recommend getting as close to the action as possible, because this play is a real nail-biter! Witness for the Prosecution runs May 3rd-12th at the New Hazlett Theater. 2024_05_19 Saw the film “Wicked Little Letters," at The Tower Theatre, Sacramento, CA yesterday, at the kind matinee price of $8.00. This seemed eight dollars well spent. The film reminded of a few close family. Fortunately, none of the movie’s data perfectly reflected anyone I know. THANK YOU film writers! This movie shares Irish and English old cultures in bizarre circumstances, because of twisted behaviors of some people, including close family. Lying to cover oneself or others, discrediting less fortunate people, discrimination, control desires, and less obvious mischiefs pervade. These problems can stem from want of a higher reputation, privacy protections and successful business statuses. Professionals, including authorities, can scare the innocent, acting in these ways too. Perhaps smaller communities and smaller "family circles" are more at risk for these behavior problems. Recommending this film for the overly strict, religious, especially Bible “thumpers," as the plot indicates what a problem religious rebellion can become. Fortunately, I have never had a profanity problem, though I could develop one, especially in dire circumstances. In this case, better to speak directly one’s profane concepts if possible, than to send them in personal letters!
