Will Low-Cost Airlines Become Luxurious or Luxury Airlines Become Low-Cost? When I was young, air travel was a luxury that many people in my part of the country could not afford. However, my dad had the opportunity to work in Saudi Arabia, which required him to travel by air. I remember being fascinated and asking him all sorts of questions: How does it feel to fly? What are the flight attendants like? Are they really as elegant as they seem? Fast forward to when I had the incredible opportunity to study aviation. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Coming to the U.K, I was amazed by how advanced air travel had become. The emergence of low-cost airlines has revolutionized the industry, making air travel more accessible and affordable than ever before. Did you know that in 2023, low-cost carriers accounted for over 30% of all air travel globally? These airlines have made it possible for millions of people to explore the world without breaking the bank. On the other hand, luxury airlines continue to push the boundaries of comfort and service. For example, Emirates' first-class suites offer private rooms with sliding doors, on-board showers, and even a bar lounge. Qatar Airways' Qsuite has been dubbed the "world's best business class," offering a fully customizable space with movable panels for creating a private room. I recall on the first day of university, a lecturer asked us what we thought the future of aviation would look like. With low-cost carriers on one side and luxurious airline options on the other, perhaps the future will see a blend of both models.
