🎨 Creatives, take note! 🎨 It took 8 years of painstaking dedication for Adam Elliot to complete his latest claymation marvel, released in cinemas this week. 🍿 With not a single frame of CGI, his artisans spent a year crafting 5000 objects to be captured by a skilled camera team on 200 miniature sets.🎬 The 33 week shoot for Memoir of a Snail all happened in a vacant store next to our studio in Melbourne's Docklands, with the crew popping in to use our workshops now and then. Elliot describes his writing process as "unconventional and back to front. I start with all the varied ingredients and details I'd like in my film and then somehow find a way to string them together. I write and rewrite until some sort of structure eventually appears". 💡✨ Congratulations and good luck - we're proud to have played a small part in this creative journey. 🎥👏 Madman Entertainment VicScreen Screen Australia Arenamedia Pty Ltd Soundfirm Melbourne International Film Festival Charades Australian Chamber Orchestra #claymation #adamelliot #memoirofasnail

Ever noticed how some movies just feel different? It's not just the story or the actors - it's the colors! From the neon-soaked streets of Blade Runner to the pastel dreamworld of The Grand Budapest Hotel, filmmakers are secretly painting our emotions with every frame. I've been geeking out over movie color palettes lately, and it's mind-blowing how much they affect our movie experience without us even realizing it. Think about it: That warm, golden glow in La La Land? Pure nostalgia. The harsh oranges of Mad Max? You can almost feel the heat. The moody shadows in In the Mood for Love? Romance and secrets in every shade. It's like a whole language we've been "speaking" without knowing it! What's your favorite use of color in film? Got any movies that just look incredible to you? Drop them in the comments - I'm always looking for new visual feasts! 👀🍿 #MovieMagic #ColorInFilm #CinematicArt #FilmBuff

Having always been fans of cinema, Kevin Misaiphon & I have a started a dream project: we are producing our first short film! We have assembled and extremely talented, dedicated and enthusiastic crew & cast, as well as a location already in the past 2 months. I have written the screenplay myself and this short will be my directorial debut. Kevin will be the VFX Supervisor on-set and in post-production, in addition to being co-producer with me. We are set to shoot on Nov 30th-Dec 1st 2024. To help this project come to life, we created a Kickstarter to crowdfund the remainder of the costs needed to execute this project without worry. If you decide to back us in our project, your generosity will help us cover: * Paying our cast/crew the industry-standard day rate for short films: Our crew put in a lot of hard work for this project, they deserve to be paid according to their rate, as well as work within reasonable hours. * Providing our cast/crew with catering during production: Being on-set all day is hard work, we want to provide a nutritious, healthy, delicious meal for our crew to be sustained throughout the day. * Location costs: Location will be key to the storytelling of the project by providing the right ambience and atmosphere. * Prop and costume expenses: Historical accuracy is important. Some of the story’s element’s revolve from the 17th century, your help will secure the proper props, set, and wardrobe to bring this era to life. * Original music composition: an original score can subtly enhance the storytelling’s experience. * Visual effects: The visual effects will play a vital moment in the story. * Additional money raised beyond our goal will help us cover the costs of submitting the film to additional festivals. It’s an ALL OR NOTHING funding, meaning that if we do not reach our goal by the set deadline, you will get your money back. Thank you in advance for considering helping us out! We can’t wait to show you guys the movie and the behind the scenes! Here is the link to our project: https://lnkd.in/ecEHr6wX

My work “TO CONCEIVE AND UNDERSTAND IT ALL” will premiere on May 30th, 2024 during the opening of the. IV INTERNATIONAL ECOPERFORMANCE FILM FESTIVAL São Paulo Edition 30/05/2024 - 02/06/2024 Opening May 30, 6:30 pm to 9 pm: Opening + Session 1 Cine Satyros Bijou, Praça Franklin Roosevelt, 172 – Consolação São Paulo, Brazil At the intersection of cinema, performing arts, and ecology, the festival promotes films of established and emerging interdisciplinary artists investigating the tensions between environment, body, and ancestry in natural, urban, and virtual landscapes. The festival incentivizes films striving for less anthropocentric forms of dramaturgy and cinematography. TO CONCEIVE AND UNDERSTAND IT ALL/ 3:58 min./ Like many of my other works, I reflect on a subject in a metaphorical and fictional way rather than a direct or documentary way. The focus of the work is on mental aspects such as thoughts and feelings about the circumstances of strokes of fate or adversity and what these mean or can do to people. The work contains spoken words and text No scenes of accidents, disasters, terror and war. Neither doves of peace nor moral slogans will appear in the work. It is simply a quiet reflection on all kinds of strokes of fate and the effects that issues such as accidents, catastrophes, terror and war bring with them. First Half Review The first half would benefit from a tighter focus on establishing Yaskin's motivations and exploring the past and flashbacks of Prabhas and the entire world. Consider trimming down Prabhas' comedic and flight scenes in favor of more serious moments and deeper exploration. Additionally, the scenes with Disha Patani and Prabhas, particularly the complex song, could be revised or shortened. Cameos should be more developed and emotionally connected to the main narrative. Other scenes are disrupted by the insertion of Prabhas' fight sequences and comedic dialogues. Improving these fight scenes for better flow and impact would enhance the overall consistency of the film. While the CGI and VFX are impressive, Brahmastra, in my opinion, remains the gold standard for the best balance of visual effects in recent Indian cinema.

Had the pleasure of attending the Employee Premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga at the Warner Bros lot, courtesy of Wendy Ruiz. Thought I'd share my thoughts now that the opening weekend buzz has simmered down. (Light spoilers ahead) In a landscape of mixed reviews, I honestly believe Furiosa to be the best film of the year, so far. The storytelling was both captivating and fresh, offering a glimpse into Furiosa's resilient journey and the formidable figures who shaped her. Tying it back to Fury Road, where she returns to find her home vanished, added a layer of devastation to her already compelling narrative. George Miller's world-building once again shines through with gripping action and unapologetic brutality. One scene that particularly struck me was a war rig fight scene that was shot from the side, reminiscent of side-scrolling games like Mario. It was a visually stunning perspective with an array of moving parts, showcasing the film's impeccable cinematography. To me, what sets Furiosa apart, especially in the realm of female-led films, is its nuanced approach to romance. Instead of succumbing to tired tropes, the film introduces a love-interest without allowing it to overshadow Furiosa's journey. There's no on-screen intimacy of any kind, leaving the depth of their connection open to interpretation. This deliberate choice keeps the focus squarely on Furiosa's character development, highlighting her evolution from a solitary warrior to someone willing to embrace companionship on her terms. Furiosa offers a refreshing take on relationships, underscoring that love interests aren't the ultimate goal for every protagonist. It's a realistic portrayal that resonated deeply with me. Overall, Furiosa is a triumph in storytelling and a testament to the enduring power of the Mad Max universe. What are your thoughts on Furiosa?

The critical analysis of Christopher Nolan's way of film-making Christopher Nolan is widely regarded as an auteur director, known for his distinctive directing style that has left a significant mark on modern cinema. His films are characterized by their complex narratives, innovative structure, and deep thematic content. Here’s a critical analysis of some key aspects of Nolan’s direction: Narrative Structure: Nolan often employs non-linear storytelling, as seen in films like Memento and Dunkirk. He challenges the audience to piece together the story, which can create a more engaging and thought-provoking experience. Visual Style: Nolan’s films are visually striking, utilizing practical effects and minimal CGI to create a more grounded and realistic feel. His use of IMAX cameras, particularly in Interstellar and Dunkirk, showcases his commitment to delivering an immersive cinematic experience. Themes: Recurring themes in Nolan’s work include the nature of reality, the perception of time, and the human condition. Films like Inception and Interstellar explore these concepts in depth, often leaving the audience with lingering questions about life and existence. Sound Design: Nolan’s use of sound is distinctive, sometimes controversially so. His approach to mixing can lead to dialogue being overshadowed by the score or sound effects, which some argue adds to the immersive quality of his films, while others find it detracts from the clarity of the narrative. Character Development: While Nolan’s films are plot-driven, they also feature complex characters who often grapple with moral dilemmas and personal trauma. The character of Bruce Wayne/Batman in The Dark Knight Trilogy is a prime example of this depth. Innovation: Nolan is known for pushing the boundaries of film technology and storytelling. His film Tenet introduced a unique concept of time inversion, once again challenging audiences with a novel narrative device. In summary, Christopher Nolan’s direction is marked by his innovative storytelling, technical prowess, and ability to weave complex themes into blockbuster films. While his style may not resonate with everyone, his impact on the film industry is undeniable, and his films continue to inspire discussion and analysis . . .
