In this clip from our latest episode, I'm joined by Lance Mabry PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT - Dr. Mabry that is. He talks about being a young clinician and introducing himself by his first name - why he started calling himself "Dr" and some research on patient expectations/beliefs and outcomes. I can't believe it's 2024 and DPTs are still getting called out by BS and MS PTs for using the title Dr. The full episode and convo is here https://lnkd.in/e_m8ie7s
Just had this lecture with my graduate PT students. Interesting to hear the comments. Our profession is always leary to use the title that they earned?
Yet we don’t question the title Dr in the academic environment??!!!
Great post! Yes we have worked for it and deserve the title.
Totally agree
I teach Modern Manual Therapy, mentor clinicians in clinical reasoning, assessment and treatment, social media and business marketing. I also help patients with TMD, headaches, LBP, sports/running injuries, long covid.
3moHow do you feel about the title Doctor? What about showing achievements on the wall for patients to see?
