I had the honor of speaking at the National Medical Association annual meeting about the future of medicine in New York this week. Sometimes it can be hard to imagine how we can make care more accessible, more equitable, and more effective for all Americans because today far too many obstacles get in the way of patient care: excessive administrative hassles, poorly functioning electronic health records, and efforts from outside medicine to dictate a patient’s course of care, even when such intrusions are at odds with their physician’s expert opinion. Despite those challenges, the American Medical Association is working every day to advance policies and programs that seek to create a more effective, more efficient, and more equitable healthcare system where physicians are better supported and where all patients can receive the timely care they need. The digital medicine revolution that is coming, powered by AI and other technological advances, can be a critical part of the solution but only if we take the right steps to guide its development, oversight, and implementation. Let’s continue to innovate and advocate for the future of medicine! 💪🏽👩⚕️👨⚕️ #Healthcare #MedicalInnovation #HealthEquity #FutureOfMedicine
