📍In Torong Tonga, South Jebel Mara, South Darfur, on 9 December several children arrived at our clinic with measles. Their caretakers told us there were approximately 50 more people who were suspected to have measles in Wala Village, a remote community accessible only by a 7-hour donkey ride. On 11 December our MSF team set out to reach Wala. Medical supplies were loaded onto a camel, while staff traveled by donkey through the challenging mountainous terrain. #TalkAboutSudan

In North Darfur, a child dies every two hours from malnutrition—which is more than double the emergency threshold. Currently, MSF-supported El Fasher Pediatric Hospital is one of the few remaining in North Darfur. Malnutrition cases are rapidly increasing and there is an urgent need to scale up activities with many other hospitals closed due to the ongoing conflict. Most aid organizations have left Darfur tied to security concerns, but our teams remain committed to providing care. We’re currently the only large international aid organization providing free pediatric medical care across all five Darfur states—a region the size of France. This massive crisis urgently needs support from the international community. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ecQ75E2Z

Unimed is proud to continuously support our partnership with the esteemed global health NGO, International Health Partners (IHP). Through this strategic alliance, we've been able to extend a lifeline to Lebanon, delivering essential medical supplies to address pressing healthcare disparities. With a contribution of critical supplies, including bag valve masks, syringes, pulse oximeters, blood collection tubes, and mechanical pipettes, Unimed facilitated an astounding 275,428 treatments across Lebanon. Among the impactful stories, we highlight the case of a courageous 12-year-old boy residing in the Elbuss Refugee Camp. His ongoing battle with chronic asthma, exacerbated by harsh environmental conditions, led to a critical health emergency. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, IHP and its partners swiftly mobilised, with Unimed's contributions playing a pivotal role in providing essential medical assistance. Lily Jones-Herbst, Corporate Partnerships Manager at International Health Partners, adds: “Without donations like this, many more people would suffer due to a lack of access to healthcare – something at IHP we’re working hard to eradicate. Through partnerships like this one, we can make a real difference in the lives of people facing difficult circumstances when it comes to their health.” Explore the full story and learn more about our partnership with International Health Partners here: https://lnkd.in/eWF-6MNa #unimed #internationalhealthpartners #lebanon #humanitariancrisis #healthcareforall

Tanzania has one of the lowest doctor-to-patient ratios worldwide. This shortage particularly affects access to specialized care, such as treatment for conditions like cleft. Many families have never heard of cleft and are not aware of how to access care. Our work in Tanzania focuses on raising awareness about cleft conditions in the Lake Zone Region, to help communities know that treatment is available and rehabilitation is possible. https://lnkd.in/gji8Y-Ya #TransformingCleft #canadiancharity #ccc #ComprehensiveCare #comprehensivecleftcare #GivingTuesdayCA #givingtuesday

During the memorable handover ceremony of Community Based Volunteers (CBVs) enablers(bicycle, backpacks, salter scales, BP machines etc) supported by On Call Africa, Diamond TV Zambia covered us and aired it on they main news bulletin. Indeed greatness can never be achieved as an island but collectively. We all need each other to do great things. "Mulyango" a tonga word translated as a "door step", is a model that will ensure families receive basic health care services like checking their Blood Pressure in their homes. Next step is cohort 2 to be empowered. Making progress 💪💪
