I once heard a person who was asked why she had faked her skills and experience to get a position as a Curator in a safari park say flippantly that she would fake it till she made it. This type of attitude honestly has no place in our zoo industry. It's difficult enough to work under or with people that have no skills or experience, that have been placed in a position of authority because they know someone or are related to someone or even worse because they are a local and thus automatically are put in a management role ( as is the practice in some places where they still don't understand the importance of experience or skills) While this can work if (and only if) those placed in these roles are willing to listen and be mentored in the correct way to oversee a park and its team, It definitely never works when someone fakes their skills and experience. This normally doesn't work because these individuals have lied to get the position they are in, and because of that they seldom will listen to those that know better because they feel to do so may draw attention to themselves and their fake experience. The problem with those that think that they can fake it till they make it is that they can cause so much damage to the zoo or safari park while they are trying to catch up. Often these type of people will resort to bulling staff so they are never questioned, never admitting that they don't know something, or even blaming others for their mistakes. The zoo industry honestly doesn't need this type of person in our zoos or safari parks and if they are not found out at an early stage and removed they can only cause problems in both the reputation of the parks involved and in staff morale and professional growth. Faking it till they make it is not the way to go in our industry and shows a blatant disrespect to those that have worked for years to gain the experience and skills needed to fill the position professionally. timhusband2005@gmail.com

Meet Tony! Tony is a Crew Leader for our site improvement division. He is what we like to call a “generational team member,” meaning his father Jose also worked with us for many years. How cool is that?! ILT Vignocchi chose him as our featured team member this month because he is one of the hardest working people you’ll ever meet, always ensuring he does a top notch job. We also asked him some fun questions, check them out! 1️⃣ What's your favorite thing about being a part of the ILT Vignocchi team? Tony said: “They give you many opportunities and respect you.” 2️⃣ What's a funny memory or story you have while on the job? He said: “My father Jose Salgado Soto told me, ‘At work you have to do your best and do it with passion.’” 3️⃣ What are your hobbies or what do you like to do on your days off? “My favorite pastime is being with my family. My children, going out and playing with them. Seeing them smile is the most beautiful thing.” 4️⃣ How long have you lived in the Chicago or Wauconda area? “16 years” 5️⃣ What's your favorite plant or flower? “Blue Hydrangea” 6️⃣ What's your favorite season? “Fall” And last but not least… 7️⃣ Does pineapple belong on pizza? “No” Thanks again Tony for all you do for ILT Vignocchi, we appreciate your dedication! So what do you think? Does pineapple belong on pizza? Let’s start the debate in the comments! #yardwork #commercialrealestate #teamwork #springclean #yard

Spotlight on Tracy Wilson! ⚡️ Tracy is our managing paralegal and we couldn’t do what we do without her. So, we thought we’d ask Tracy some fun questions to help you get to know her better. 1. What are some of your favorite activities or hobbies? Hobbies are all things Star Wars (Han shot first), collecting craft supplies (one day it will be doing the crafts too!), following the James Webb Space Telescope and the wonderful scientists who explain it all, cinema (all types from animation to black and white musicals to comic book blockbusters - no snobbery here), reading, and gardening. 2. Where is your favorite place you've traveled? Favorite kind of travel/vacation is anything that is either educational or amusement/adventurous. 3. What was your first job? Taco Bell in High School. When I was too perky for the opening crew, I would be locked in the walk in freezer. My store also created an entirely new job title (90's corporate - no discretionary raises) and I was officially named the "hospitality hostess" with that on my name tag. 4. What is a random fact about you? Mr. Pibb is not an alternative to Dr. Pepper. If I'm offered Mr. Pibb in place of Dr. Pepper, I politely decline and take water instead and it really confuses people. John Green articulates better than I can https://lnkd.in/dcdNgXKn Do you have anything in common with Tracy?

Oh, what’s that? You don’t want to spend your one precious life emailing people in FIFTY DIFFERENT STATES so you can get your product into stores? WEIRD. From a strategic, business perspective the work we do at Global Registration Services, Inc., Pet Food Compliance, and American Law Label, Inc. is about helping companies stay compliant with laws and regulations so their products can get into stores - and stay there. But what is our work REALLY about? It’s really about giving our clients back hours and hours of their lives so they can do more important, more enjoyable things. On a sunny, Friday afternoon in July, I can’t imagine anyone would choose to spend their time following up with 7 different state compliance agencies. Instead, we can do it for them and they can spend that time * landing a new client * brainstorming a new project * hanging out by the pool * napping * watching their kid’s summer camp talent show Regardless of your company or industry, it can be worth getting really clear about where your time is going and if, in fact, DIY-ing it is worth it. Maybe it’s time to hand off those less-gratifying tasks to someone else!

Settle is probably one of the hardest things for dog owners to teach their hyper, high energy dogs. It’s also one of the most necessary skills any dog can have! If your dog tears around the house like a tornado, they likely need some help learning how to settle. If you want to bring your social, excitable puppy out to dog friendly restaurants, they likely need some help. This is one of my favorite skills to teach! I love watching dogs learn how to pause and breathe. To teach this skill to your dog, check out my blog post on this topic! https://lnkd.in/deYeZmPt

These two dogs turn four in August. Nearly four years of love, laughter, and lots of tears! And many lessons about life and work. 🐾 The dogs have clear goals - they want walks, food, exercise, love. They know what they want and they ask for it at times (Florence the whippet even barks for a blanket!). They focus on their own goals not others… well, unless a doggo friend appears and they decide to play! 🐾 They’re not yearning for a different job or promotion, they’re happy with the role they have. 🐾 My dogs are very different to each other and they don’t waste their time comparing themselves! They have very different jobs, historically, and they don’t crave the other one’s role. They know their talents and play to their strengths. 🐾 They are masters of self care, drinking water when they’re thirsty and resting when they need to. A big lesson for me to learn from as I often don’t drink water in the working day! We can all benefit from resting more, too. 🐾 Dogs know no other way than to be their authentic selves. We need to do the same if we are to thrive in our work and careers. Do you have a dog or pet? What career lessons have they taught you? #careerlessons #careercoach #careerhappiness #careerdevelopment #careergoals #careeradvice #careergrowth #careersuccess #loveyourjob #workgoals

Fun Jobs You Probably Didn't Know Existed! 🌟 In the professional world, there are some truly unusual and funny job roles that exist outside the 9-5 norm. Ever heard of a Pet Food Taster? Yes, people are paid to taste pet food! Or how about a Water Slide Tester, employees spending their days evaluating slides for safety and fun? Maybe you’re more suited to being a Professional Sleeper, where you’re literally paid to nap on the job! 😴 Here’s a quick list of quirky careers: Pet Food Taster 🐾 Scuba Diving Pizza Delivery 🍕 Snake Milker 🐍 Golf Ball Diver ⛳ Professional Cuddler 🤗 The world of work can be way more fascinating (and fun) than you might think. #UniqueCareers #FunnyJobs #DreamJob #CareerGoals
