The Power of Personal Connections in Hospitality and Sales One thing I’ve truly come to value in my career is how the smallest details can make the biggest impact. Whether it’s greeting someone with a warm smile, remembering a guest’s favorite drink, or ensuring a client’s event goes off without a hitch, it’s those moments of care that stick with people. For me, hospitality and sales aren’t just jobs—they’re about people. When you take the time to listen, understand, and go the extra mile, you’re not just delivering a service—you’re building trust and creating lasting relationships. I’ve learned that success comes from finding the balance between efficiency and empathy. Being organized and proactive is important, but so is making things personal and meaningful. And as someone who works across cultures and languages, I’ve seen how simple, genuine communication can open doors to incredible connections. I’m passionate about creating those little “wow” moments, both for clients and the teams I work with. What about you? How do you create meaningful experiences in your work? Let’s connect and share ideas—it’s amazing what we can learn from each other. #HospitalityWithHeart #SalesSuccess #BuildingConnections #ProfessionalGrowth

This story continues to inspire us ... 😉 Two shoe salesmen were sent to a new, emerging country where no one wore shoes. One quickly sent word back, “No one wears shoes here—no opportunity.” The other saw it differently and excitedly reported, “No one wears shoes—what an amazing opportunity!” This simple story is what triggered our passion for sales and why we started 2DUTCH Hospitality Collective. Where others see obstacles, we see opportunities. At 2DUTCH Hospitality Collective, we thrive on helping hotels tap into untapped potential and drive results, just like the second salesman. It's all about perspective and taking action. Michael Kooitje Niels De Wilde #Recruitment #SalesMindset #Opportunities #2DUTCH #HospitalitySales #Growth

So what if this image is 15(ish) old – I am smiling and don’t look deranged, so it’s in the minority of options. (Clare Clifford & Megan Codling👍) A couple of weeks ago, I did a post confirming what it is I do, but having recently connected with lots of new people, I thought I’d add the why. I did not fall into working in the meetings & events industry. At the age of 11, my mind had been made up – courtesy of a few lovely trips to chef owned country house hotels. I have spent every year since in the meetings & events industry (aside from 2 in recruitment). When Covid hit, someone suggested to me I spend some time considering what other industries / jobs I could become interested in. Aside from millionaire’s wife, nothing else appealed. I absolutely love: 🎯The People 🎯Making people feel significant / recognised 🎯Assisting clients to exceed their event objectives 🎯Developing & incentivising teams – seeing them progress and achieve 🎯Converting business 🎯Maximising inventory 🎯Increasing profitability 🎯Seeing budgets grow 🎯Developing client relationships 🎯Developing internal relationships to elevate events time and again Literally everything related to M&E sales offices remains my geekdom. I work with meetings & events venues to improve commercial performance. Because as every GM ever told me, there is ALWAYS room for improvement

The Power of Kindness in Sales: A Personal Encounter As sales professionals, our journeys take us to diverse locations and weather conditions. Whether it's scorching summers or pouring rain, the commitment to meeting clients at their sites remains unwavering. Today, I had a remarkable experience that reinforced the value of kindness in every interaction. Travelling two hours to a client's site, I expected the typical exchange of business discussions. However, upon arrival, I was greeted not only with professionalism but with genuine warmth, respect, and hospitality. It's moments like these that remind me why I chose this profession. Regardless of our roles or responsibilities, it's the simple acts of humanity that leave a lasting impact. My client didn't offer grand gestures; instead, it was the small, thoughtful gestures that mattered the most. A glass of water, a meal, and assistance in arranging transportation in a remote location transformed a routine visit into a memorable experience. It's not just about what we do, but how we do it that truly matters. #Sales #Kindness #Humanity #Professionalism #BusinessRelationships #CustomerExperience

There's an intangible that Don Hoteleone wants Hotel Salespeople to pay close attention to... As a refresher, an "intangible" is part emotional intelligence, part unwritten rules, part workplace politics, part communication. Every hotel I've ever worked at, there is always a baseline amount of contempt towards Sales, whether it's deserved or not. Maybe it's because we work "bankers hours." We take people to lunch. We go on business trips. We don't wear uniforms. There was a week with no events, so we must not be doing anything 🙄 Here are 2 things to do: 1. Educate those outside the department on what we do and why we do it. Maybe you'll change a few hearts and minds. 2. Knowing that there is already a certain perception about the department, don't speak badly or gossip about your Sales colleagues. It only serves to make those perceptions worse.

With a new job it can be hard to see your development, but you should take a step back on the minor accomplishments in the job. After starting fairly recently, down are some of fine. 🥂To this date I have planned a total of 17 events and still counting. 🔥On 5 occasions I have upsold things whether it be catering including more drinks, activities like private tours and more. 🧠 Got my head around most of sales force which can be tricky system to learn 🔍Done over 10 show rounds, for prospect to definite clients It’s not a lot of things but in the short time I’ve been at my current job, not bad. You’ve read mine but what about yours? #job #newjob #events #eventplanner #eventplanning #eventprof #linkedin

Does what you do make people smile? I accept that hospitality can be a tough industry with long hours and juggling multiple tasks simultaneously. But when you work to help someone make their event a success, and it puts a smile on their face, then it's all worth it! Knowing someone had a great experience while they were at Glow Venue often puts a smile on my face as I head home after a long day. Every job has its salary and the odd perk but it's often the personal satisfaction you gain by doing a job well that becomes the greatest reward.
