The Tableau world is talking about the new 2024.2 release (best release in years imho), highlighting all the great new features like the Viz Extensions (love them)...But I'm a simple data guy: What I love most about the new release is that you can now format parameters individually. I'm serious: After Tableau gifted us with the copy and paste function a few years ago (lol), we can now finally format parameters independently of each other – and it only took 9 years to implement this community idea 😅 Tableau I have a crazy idea: What if you could change the font color of navigation buttons to any color instead of being limited to 48 colors? I know you can do it!

Check out this tutorial on level of detail calculations in Tableau. I set out to demystify them for folks using them for the first time. It is a great resource that you can use to understand how LOD calcs work in Tableau and when to use each of the three options. Link to the tutorial below.

I'm would like to share that I have completed the Tableau Desktop Specialist course on Pluralsight! This course has provided me with valuable skills in connecting to and preparing data effectively. Here are some key areas I covered: ✅ Connection pane ✅ Live connection vs. extracts ✅ Data source with multiple connections ✅ Creating and managing the data model ✅ Joins, unions, and relationships ✅ Data blending ✅ Managing data properties This knowledge will greatly enhance my ability to visualize and analyze data, and I'm excited to apply these skills in my future projects. #Tableau #DataVisualization #DataAnalytics #ContinuousLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment

How familiar are you with Table Calculations in Tableau? It is without a doubt one of the most powerful features in Tableau that makes the job of solving the most complex problems a fun little exercise with its versatility and the wide range of functions that can be used in conjunction with one another to work the data in such a creative way. So much so, it makes the problem solving a game of a puzzle that is also quite entertaining. How would one dynamically compare the sales of current week to a time in the past of our selection to determine the percentage change and subsequently apply the same logic across the entire range of weeks present YTD? Or how about defining the percentile at which a product is positioned based on its sales volume? And how would you hide certain elements from view, but enable the hidden metrics to be still present for any other calculations used throughout the dashboard. While these only represent only a small fraction of possible scenarios, table calculations is what ultimately makes solving each of these scenarios with so much ease and convenience. Being able to utilise table calculations effectively will take your dashboard designs to the next level and of course, to be able to do so comfortably, lots of practise is a must. This is why in week 3 of our Tableau Community Forums 52 Week Challenge, we are visiting a question that requires table calculations to solve and as a bonus, there is also an opportunity to explore the capabilities of a table calculation filter. As always, please give it a go first before referring to the provided solution. Howdy Tableau community! Here is a fun challenge I recently encountered. When the data has manual-entry text items, people are WILDLY creative about what they enter, and often that text variable loses power due to these noises. This document showcases my approach using Tableau #FixedLOD to approach a text cleansing task. Do you agree or disagree with this approach? Is there a better alternative? Can you further optimize my #LOD code? Let me know in the comments below!

🌟 My Data Analytics Journey: Exploring Tableau Prep Alternatives 🌟 Since April 2024, I’ve been diving deep into the world of Data Analytics, and it’s been an incredible journey of learning and growth. Today, I reached an exciting milestone—starting Tableau! 📊 Our session focused on Tableau Prep Builder, a powerful tool for data preparation. However, as it’s a paid software, I’m now on the hunt for free alternatives (just like Tableau Public, which is a gem for visualization!). 💡 I’m curious—what tools do you use for data cleaning and preparation that don’t break the bank? Are there any free options you’d recommend? Let’s discuss and help each other grow in this amazing field! 🌐 #DataAnalytics #Tableau #LearningNeverStops #DataPreparation #CareerGrowth
